Chuck teases the look of European tour’s setlist: greatest hits, focus on new record & new medley!

With Simple Plan’s European tour with State Champs and Mayday Parade being less than a month away, the local media are starting to pay more attention to the the band, who are coming back to many cities on the old continent as a headlining act for the first time since 2017!

A new Spanish interview for Mondo Sonoro with Chuck Comeau recently came out, in which the drummer was asked several question about the band’s upcoming tour, including what the fans can expect the setlist to look like. Chuck confirmed the tour’s setlist (while it may change from day to day slightly) will include the band’s greatest hits but will also be mostly focused on songs from their new album Harder Than It Looks (2022). Another thing worst mentioning is that Simple Plan want to include a special medley, where they try to incorporate short snippets of their songs to include as many as they can. This is remindful of the “No Pads medley” the band did in 2012 – given that the band is celebrating 20 years since the release of Still Not Getting Any next year, there’s hopes that this new medley could be a SNGA one.

Check out Chuck’s full response below:

“We haven’t done a headlining tour in Europe since 2017. So I think what we want is to just give our fans what they’ve been waiting for for a long time, which is a longer show. A show that spans all eras of Simple Plan, from the early days, which I know our fans love, to the new album that came out last year. So that it’s like a “greatest hits,” but with an emphasis on the new record, of course, and the new music. But we really want to play everything, every song that people want to hear. That’s really what we’re trying to do. And we’re going to change the setlist a little bit and have some songs come in and out and change every night. And we’re even trying to build a medley because we don’t have time to play every song that everyone wants to hear. We thought that maybe if we found a way to not play the whole song, but rather small fragments of several together, we would please more fans, or so we hope.”

Are you excited for the Hard As Rock tour in Europe? Get ready! Most tickets are already sold-out and the tour begins on January 18th 2024 in Paris, France!

Simple Plan’s new album ‘Harder Than It Looks’ is out! Come have a listen!

This is it. You all have done your waiting. 6 years after the release of ‘Taking One For The Team’, Simple Plan’s finally back with a new full-length studio album – the 6th in their catalogue, ‘Harder Than It Looks’. Starting today, the record is finally out for everyone to enjoy and is available for purchase at various retailers as well as available for streaming!

‘Harder Than It Looks’ is Simple Plan’s first studio album as a four-piece band and also their first album that they self-produced as free agents without any record label above them.

WHAT IS ‘HARDER THAN IT LOOKS’ LIKE?

The album comprises of 10 songs in total, four of which the fans have already heard in full before as previously released singles (and 3 of them as music videos). Even though die-hard fans may think 10 songs might seems “too little” (for the 6 year wait), after listening to the record all the way through, one will realize that these ten songs actually make the album sound very comprehensive without any unnecessary “filler” songs. And that is truly remarkable. This way each track has its own place on the album, delivering the fan everything from big rock/pop-punk tracks (Ruin My Life, Best Day Of My Life) to the final ballad (Two).

Everybody will be able to find exactly what they’re expecting from Simple Plan – big, upbeat, melodic songs with relatable lyrics, as well as a number of surprising elements on certain tracks (Anxiety, Iconic), which still fit extremely well with the rest and actually are great contenders for possible next big Simple Plan hit. Compared to the previous couple of records, the band has definitely stayed way more true to their core pop-punk hearts this time. No fillers, no “off” tracks, everything pure Simple Plan.

Listen to Simple Plan’s new song ‘Iconic’ used in a new LCS Spring Finals teaser video

Another track from Simple Plan’s new album ‘Harder Than It Looks’ (coming out next week, May 6th) is out – in a way. The song ‘Iconic’ has been used a couple days ago by the League Championship Series (LCS) YouTube channel, in a teaser video for the LCS Spring Finals.

It seems that the organization has the rights to use the song and even listed it in the credits of the video.

The song is played nearly in full in the video and definitely fits well with the eports vibe – very energetic and epic. One could even say… iconic.

Given the fact that the video consists also of short spoken parts by the players, we cannot hear the song in full in certain points, but we can definitely hear enough to enjoy the music.

Simple Plan premiere the ‘Wake Me Up (When This Nightmare’s Over) music video in support of Ukraine

Simple Plan’s brand new music video for the song ‘Wake Me Up (When This Nightmare’s Over)’ premiered today on Simple Plan’s YouTube channel. The video, directed by Jensen Noen, features Ukrainian cast and crew and its concept depicts the Ukrainian fight for freedom and democracy in their current war against Russian oppression.

Read below what the band had to say about making this video:

“When we saw the first images from the war in Ukraine, we felt so heartbroken and powerless. The impact on young children and families felt especially devastating and made us want to do something to help. The idea to do this video was sparked by discussions with our good friend and Ukrainian filmaker Jensen Noen. We could feel just how important and personal the events in Ukraine were for him and from there, the concept for the video emerged. It was very special to see all these talented Ukrainian actors, actresses, and crew members come together for this cause and create such a moving and emotional music video. We always believed in the power of music and we hope this video can have a positive impact and raise as much money as possible for the people of Ukraine.”

All proceeds from the views of this video will be donated to UNICEF to help the children of Ukraine. Please, watch the full music video for ‘Wake Me Up (When This Nightmare’s Over)’ below and make sure to share it everywhere:

Besides the Ukrainian-themed music video, the band decided to go a bit further in their efforts to spread the word about the current refugee crisis and the war in Ukraine and released a special limited edition t-shirt, which is now available in Simple Plan’s official merch store. All the proceeds from the sale of this t-shirt will go to UNICEF in support of Ukrainian refugees.
