Here we go!! After whole 10 months (with few breaks) in Los Angeles Pierre and Chuckem yesterday officially wrapped the writing process of the lyrics for the new Simple Plan album. Chuck announced it on his Twitter profile yesterday:

Just finishing our last day of songwriting for the album…for now…lol. big meeting next week to figure out a plan for studio, recording!

As always you will be the 1st to know everything! 10 months of writing has been amazing!! we are soooo excited about the songs!

Well that should mean that in June, the guys should be in the studio already – and then they have the whole summer for recording and few months of post-production after that. Which means they should have the album out in late fall 2010. Exciting, isn’t it? Now let’s sum up what we know about the upcoming album already. Here are the basic facts:

- Simple Plan collaborated on the lyrics during the writing process with Claude Kelly, Rivers Cuomo, Matt Squire, Jim Irvin, Julian Emery, Michael Warren and maybe even more song-writers

- we already know few song-titles – the only one which is confirmed by the band (by Chuck in particular) is “This Song Saved My Life” – which is a song that is based on fans’ feelings about Simple Plan, about how the band has helped them through the years in the worst periods of their lives

- there are also other song-titles we are aware of, though we don’t know if they are for old or new songs and if they even are going to be on the new album ot not. These titles include: Paralysed, You Suck At Love, Famous For Nothing and Astronaut

- speaking of the songs, the direction that the album should be going for (according to Chuck again) should be “fun”. The album is supposed to be based on fast and funny songs that should be similar to the No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls times (also, it wouldn’t be SP if the album didn’t include some serious songs as well) and we can also expect songs like Jump (from Still Not Getting Any…)

Next week should bring us more answers to our questions on the upcoming album and we should also finally find out the date when the guys would be hitting the studio, so don’t forget to check SimplePlan.cz for the latest updates. :)

It hasn’t been even a day since we’ve learned about another songwriter that Simple Plan are working with for the new record, and now here we have another one! This time the collaboration has been officially confirmed by Chuck Comeau himself on his Twitter:

In the presence of greatness! Working with @RiversCuomo today. Childhood idol. Weezer rules!

Yes, Simple Plan are really working with the singer, lead guitarist and song-writer of the band Weezer – Rivers Cuomo! Seems like in order to write their best record yet, Simple Plan are trying to gather as many talented song-writers as they can! If this “simple plan” worked, we should be able to find out hopefully this fall.

Chuck and Pierre are back in LA for few more weeks writing songs for the upcoming Simple Plan album. For a few months now, the American song-writer Claude Kelly (who wrote songs for example for Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson or Adam Lambert) has been working with Chuck and Pierre on some lyrics. And apparently these three boys are having a lot of fun during their “work” – here you can check out a video, that Claude posted on Twitter yesterday, where Pierre and Chuck help Claude with his fake new debut single “I’m Black!”. Don’t forget to watch the video till the very end.

I’ve also uploaded a photo of Claude with Chuck and Pierre from yesterday to the gallery, then two pictures of Seb’s new accessories and finally Patrick’s photoshoot picture, which he currently has set as his default Twitter pic:

Our brazilian colleagues got some hot new info about few song titles, which were recently written by Pierre and Chuck! Of course, it’s still unknown if these songs will be used for the new album or not.

The first song is called “Paralysed” and was written only by Chuck and Pierre.

The next song, “You Suck At Love”, was also written by them but the guys also collaborated with Mattem Squire (who has worked with bands like 3OH!3, Taking Back Sunday, The Used, All Time Low, Panic! At The Disco, Boys Like Girls or The Cab).

“Astronaut” is the last song-title. It was written by Pierre and Chuck – though, it is yet unknown if it was written for Simple Plan or for some other band. The guys worked with Julian Emery (british producer and song-writer, known for his collaboration with McFly) and Jim Irvin, who worked with Davidem Guetta.

So, what do YOU think of the new song-titles? Any ideas what the songs could be about?

As you all know, there haven’t been many news about Simple Plan in the last couple of days. The reason is that Chuck and Pierre are still stuck in Los Angeles, where they are (according to Chuck) writing such an amazing record, that is even causes earthquakes in LA. But what are they doing when not writing music and what does the rest of the band do back in Canada?

We don’t know much about mr. Bouvier, as not only he forgot his Twitter password few days ago, after he finally remembered it, he didn’t tweet much since then. With Chuck it’s different – last Friday (April 9th) he attended Michael Buble’s concert in LA. And he wasn’t the only SP member to attend one! For example, few Simple Plan fans, who went to the Hedley show last Wednesday (April 7th), spotted among the attendants Sebastien, David with his girlfriend and also Patrick. Jeff is spending his free time mostly with his children and family.

But let’s still hold on to the concerts topic – on April 3rd, during the show of The New Cities – particularly during Looks Minus Substance – David appeared on the stage and as usual he played drumms with the band (just a reminder: we’ve seen David play with The New Cities before – mostly at their shows during touring with Simple Plan).
