It sounds pretty unbelievable, but today it’s been exactly 7 years since the world premiere of the music video for Shut Up! back in 2005. The music video for the second single off their second album called “Still Not Getting Any…” was directed by Erik White in Los Angeles, California. The shooting took place on December 15th 2004. And of course, our beloved Patrick Langlois could not be missing in this video, so if you’re still not sure where exactly he is – he portrays the valet in front of the hotel, where Simple Plan crashed the ballroom and made a pretty huge mess before finding out it was not really the place to be at.

Another collaboration which Simple Plan came up with for their song Jet Lag is the previously mentioned Indonesian band called Kotak that will be opening for Simple Plan on their two shows in Indonesia in January. Just like we saw it happen with the Chinese version of Jet Lag (feat. Kelly Cha), also this one has been released as a music video, including added scenes to the original recording directed by Frank Borin. This time, the song is in English with the little change from the original version that the music video does not only feature the female lead singer, but the whole band Kotak which consists of 2 women and 1 man. This way we can also interpret the music video as Pierre missing (and being missed by) a threesome of people :)

How do you like this version, when you compare it with the other ones?

Ever since the beginning, Jet Lag has been considered to be a very universal song. At first it was written only for two language versions: English and French – but as it turns out, it may spread to even more versions than we thought was possible. Do you remember last August when Simple Plan were headed to China to play a few shows, yet the concerts had to be cancelled due to Pierre’s swollen vocal chords? That’s where the Simple Plan were scheduled to perform Jet Lag live with a local singer called Kelly Cha, who sings her part in Chinese – and even the official music video was supplemented by new takes including this female singer. So this suprising duet has been post-poned till Simple Plan come back to China again – which is in January, when we can expect Kelly Cha to appear on stage with Simple Plan, performing Jet Lag together.

The sketch is a work of the artistic director Tyler Jensen:

Thank to SPB.com for finding Mark Staubach‘s (the director of CKMHOY, Astronaut and Summer Paradise) VIMEO account, here is his slightly different version of the Can’t Keep My Hands Off You music video, than the one that has been distributed to media. If you compare both versions, you’ll see this one includes little more shots of the prom attendants – particularly a bit more of them making out than the first one.

That was quick! Not even 2 months passed since the release of the last Simple Plan music video and here we are about to watch the next one – this time for the promised new single Summer Paradise! It is the first official Simple Plan music video which is using footage in a way A Big Package For You was – meaning a sort of mix between live footage and footage from when the SP guys are just having fun with each other. This video was directed by Mark Staubach, who has previously directed Simple Plan’s videos for Can’t Keep My Hands Off You and Astronaut. But it wouldn’t be Simple Plan, if there wasn’t a little catch about this video: apparently it won’t be the only music video we’ll see of Summer Paradise! Check out the band’s official statement:

Once again, Australia is ahead of the curve! They are the first country in the world to release Summer Paradise as a single off Get Your Heart On! and we couldn’t be more excited! This is one of our favorite songs off the album and we can’t wait for everyone to hear it.
