MKTO filming a music video with Pierre and Chuck!
18th May 2013 // Permalink // 1 Comment

Back in April, the news got out that Pierre and Chuck have been co-writing some songs with Malcolm Kelley and Tony Oller from the newly formed band MKTO.

MKTO has recently gained a lot of recognition because of their lead single “Thank You” (not to mention that both of the members of the band are also actors – most notably Malcolm who played Walt on LOST).

On May 15th Pierre and Chuck reported that they were currently on a beach somewhere in California, filming a “little something something”. Well, turns out that the little something something is a new music video for MKTO which the boys from Simple Plan should be a part of. That also means that at least Pierre might be singing on the song (and who knows, Chuck did some pretty dope rapping on Holding On – and since MKTO rap on their songs too, there’s always a chance of that happening – although probably just a very little one).

The boys from MKTO posted the following picture from the videoshoot where you can see some familiar faces including Pierre, Tony, Malcolm and even Mark Staubach, who directed some of Simple Plan’s latest music videos:

Simple Plan on Faber Drive’s dream festival line-up
16th May 2013 // Permalink // 4 Comments

The tights between Simple Plan and their fellow Canadian band Faber Drive have always been very strong. The two first met on Simple Plan’s Canadian tour in 2008 where Faber Drive were opening for them along with Metro Station and Cute Is What We Aim For. After that Faber Drive have invited Pierre and Chuck for many song-writing sessions which resulted into two songs being co-written by the members of Simple Plan on Faber Drive’s second album Can’t Keep A Secret (songs „Our Last Goodbye“ and „G-Get Up And Dance“) and three songs on their latest record Lost In Paradise (songs “Set It Off”, “Too Little, Too Late” and “Do It In Hollywood”).

It’s needless to say that the guys from Faber Drive keep talking very positively about Simple Plan and in a recent interview for CanadianBlast.com they even named them on the top of the list of 5 artists they would put into their dream festival line-up.

Check out an excerpt from the interview below:

Q: If you were to curate your own festival, who would the first 5 acts you would book for the bill be?

Simple Plan
Green Day
Hedley
These Kids Wear Crowns
Jim Carrey

Simple Plan a part of JUNO exhibition: The Power of Music: Sustainability & the JUNOS
13th April 2013 // Permalink // No Comments

After the featuring of Simple Plan in the From Sound To Emotion exhibition in Montreal, Canada (that has recently ended), the band is now a part of another exposition – this time in Regina, Canada where this year’s JUNO Awards take place and in preparation for the big event, as always the organisers have set up various attractions including the exhibition entitled “The Power of Music: Sustainability & the JUNOS”.

This exhibition, that is open for free from March 28th till July 31st at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum in Regina, Canada, allows the visitors to learn more about how powerful music can be – it features four interactive listening and learning stations, each dedicated to a different sustainability theme and featuring many JUNO nominated Canadian artists and information about their own efforts. These artists include mainly Bruce Cockburn, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Neil Young, and Sarah Harmer and additionally many other artists that are involved with charity – including Simple Plan (as you can see on the picture from the exhibit on the left – or its original here).

If you’re interested in the exhibit, make sure to check out more info about it on JUNO’s official website.

Marianas Trench: “Simple Plan are great role models for any band!”
10th April 2013 // Permalink // No Comments

It is always nice to hear what other artists have to say about your favourite band. And if that favourite band happens to be Simple Plan, you’ve come to the right place to find out what others think of them!

Marianas Trench, Canadian band that toured with Simple Plan in the US (2011) and Canada (2012), has recently been responding to a couple of fans’ questions through their official Twitter account. And one of the questions in particular was very interesting to our fandom – “What do you think of Simple Plan?”. The guys from Marianas Trench responded very positively, by saying: “Nicest, most professional band we’ve met. Great role models for any band.”

Pierre and Chuck to co-write with These Kids Wear Crowns
2nd March 2013 // Permalink // No Comments

After Faber Drive and The New Cities, These Kids Wear Crowns will soon join the ranks of the Canadian bands that co-wrote songs with Pierre and Chuck from Simple Plan. The members of These Kids Wear Crowns posted a tweet from their band’s official Twitter page saying they are heading to LA tomorrow for a week to co-write with David Immerman, Shaun Lopez, Pierre Bouvier and Chuck Comeau (thanks Charbel for the info).

It is yet unknown if the songs that may come out of this song-writing session would go to These Kids Wear Crowns or Simple Plan.

Simple Plan and These Kids Wear Crowns already have quite a history together. Back in 2011 the bands appeared together on an event called Music Matters in Singapore, where Pierre also joined TKWC on stage (see the picture above). The two bands were also involved together in the charitable rendition of Coldplay’s “Fix You” to help the victims of the earthquake in Japan. In February 2012 Simple Plan toured with These Kids Wear Crowns (and All Time Low and Marianas Trench) in Canada – and you may remember TKWC’s guitar player Gypsy showing his moves in a red body suit during Simple Plan’s medley.
