Simple Plan’s new album ‘Harder Than It Looks’ to come out May 6th!

It’s a happy day in the Simple Plan fandom. After years of waiting, Simple Plan’s sixth studio album will be released on May 6th 2022. The band also finally revealed the title of the album – ‘Harder Than It Looks’ which once again perfectly fits into their history of double entendres in their album title names.

Besides the album title and the release date, Simple Plan also revealed today on their social media the official album artwork, which features all four members of the band in their “fake professions”, previously revealed on social media posts in the past few days. You can check out the full version of the album cover here.

This is Simple Plan’s first official release since 2016, when they released their 5th album ‘Taking One For The Team” (2016) and the first album after the departure of David Desrosiers in 2020.

Read below what Simple Plan said about their upcoming release:

“No more waiting. No more “soon”. The day has finally come! We’re incredibly excited to announce that our sixth album, “Harder Than It Looks”, is coming out on May 6th! 🤘⚡️🤘
We know it has been a long time coming and we want to thank all of you for your patience and support. We’re so stoked to finally be able to share all of this with you.

Starting at midnight local time, you can pre-save/add the new album and to celebrate, we’ll have another special surprise for you so make sure you come back here later tonight! 🎉🎉🎉”

Simple Plan tease new album concept with the photoshoot

Over the past week, Simple Plan have slowly begun posting a bunch of very random photoshoots of their band members, which seem to be tied to the concept of their upcoming 6th studio album. These images all seemed to revolving around the topic of different type of work or occupations.

So far, Simple Plan have posted these photos of Sebastien (who is pictured slagging off, eating a donut in an office workspace) and Pierre (who is pictured as a construction worker) – you can find them all in our gallery. The band’s Instagram profile accompanied these images with descriptions such as “hard at work” or “can’t rush a genius”.

The title of the album is unknown yet but we’re more than certain that these images will be the key to it eventually. Can you already guess what play on words will the boys choose this time around?

First photo of Simple Plan with Deryck Whibley from ‘Ruin My Life’ videoshoot

The videoshoot for Simple Plan’s upcoming single ‘Ruin My Life’ sort of slipped under the radar while the band was still teasing what their new surprise project would be. That is until Jeff recently posted a photo of himself in front of a red brick wall saying “Hurry up and wait on the set of our new video”.

The very same red brick wall that is featured on this brand new image that People magazine posted today (thanks SPB), taken by photographer Anna Lee in Los Angeles on February 2nd, which is also the day of said videoshoot. On this photo, we can finally see Simple Plan together with Deryck Whibley from Sum 41, who was only recently officially announced as the featured artist on Simple Plan’s new single.
