Pierre Bouvier featured on a new song ‘Don’t Listen To My Voicemail’ by Your Broken Hero

Matt Cutshall, who raised to fame with his comedic ‘Emo’s Not Dead’ videos depicting him as a stereotypical “emo” boy, which have in the past featured many popular figures from the alternative scene including e.g. All Time Low, Simple Plan or Tony Hawk.

Besides videos, Cutshall has also been known to produce his own music with his project ‘Your Broken Hero’, which is to release a brand new album later this year. Yesterday, he finally released a brand new song from this upcoming album, which is titled ‘Don’t Listen To My Voicemail’ and features none other but Pierre Bouvier from Simple Plan on the song’s chorus.

Pierre also appears in the music video for this song, which you can check out below:

Pierre discusses plans for next SP album & the release of possible new material next year, including a piano version of ‘Anxiety’

Simple Plan’s lead singer Pierre Bouvier recently appeared on the podcast The Plug with Neil Griffiths, where he discussed the band’s history, the legacy of pop-punk bands in the world of music and also the band’s future plans.

When being asked about whether the band is already preparing another album, Pierre confirmed that there are plans for new material being worked on next year, it’s now just the quesiton of time scheduling, due to touring keeping them very busy for most of next year. But Pierre seems to be certain that at least the creative process of writing the 7th Simple Plan record could at least begin in 2024. Read his full response below:

“Yes, we’re definitely thinking about some new material. And I know I have to get to it. And I have a little bit of time right now to do that. However the touring is going so well, it’s kind of hard to find the balance, because we’re such perfectionists, we don’t crank out a record in three weeks – and some bands do it and that’s to be debated whether it’s a good idea or not. But we take a long time to make a record – like writing a great song for me usually takes (because I write it here in this room), I put it together as a demo, so it takes a while. Writing a song for me takes a few days, so to write twelve song […] takes a long time. But we definitely, we’re not gonna stop making music. It’s just a matter of when can we find some time, cause we have these two months off coming up and then next year’s already lined up to be so intense in a wonderful way. But can the fans expect new music? Absolutely. […] I’m sure [the new Simple Plan album] will be created next year. Now whether it will be released next year, that I don’t know. But I know that Sebastien and Jeff have been telling me like: ‘So… new songs… it’s probably a good time!’ And I’m like: ‘I know, I know, I know…’”

However it looks like Simple Plan might be in the process of releasing some stuff from their archives. As we know from previous interviews, there are some left-over songs from the process of creating the previous album and besides that there are also some new versions of already released songs that might get to see the light of the day – namely a new piano version of ‘Anxiety’ (the 5th song on Simple Plan’s latest labum ‘Harder Than It Looks’, which deals with the issue of mental health struggles that the lead singer has himself dealt with in the past). Pierre seems to be currently in the process of convincing the rest of his band members to release this version, which he stated to be very much in love with:

“And we actually have, we’ve got some stuff in the archives. There’s a couple of versions of some songs. There’s some unreleased stuff that we have, that I wanna put out. Notably, I have this awesome version I’ve been trying to push on the band. I’ve got this piano and vocal kind of ballad-y version of Anxiety that I’m in love with. And I’m like: ‘Guys! Can we just put this out?’

Simple Plan release new music video for Iconic feat. Jax (including a brand new verse)

On Friday, October 13th 2023, Simple Plan released a brand new music video for their new single ‘Iconic’ featuring a new collaboration with singer/songwriter Jax. The music video consists of clips from the band’s recent world tour and was filmed by Anna Lee, Skyler Barberio, Josh Kim and Braverijah Gregg.

The new version of ‘Iconic’ features a brand new verse by Jax, which includes a number of name drops including Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, Jeff Bezos and Warren Buffett. The verse goes as follows:

If I had a dime for every time
Someone in a suit said I should try
To look a little more like Britney
Sing a little more like Whitney
I’d be
Richer than Besos and Buffet combined
But I’d rather eat Cup O Noodles and cry
Speaking the words that are mine
‘Cause Whit is the shit And Brit is the shit
‘Cause they don’t give a shit about trying to fit

Simple Plan to release new version of Iconic feat. Jax next week!

Simple Plan recently revealed they will be releasing a brand new version of their song ‘Iconic’, this time with a very cool featuring – the American singer/songwriter Jax! You can already pre-save the song on streaming platforms and patiently wait till Friday, October 13th, when the new collaboration drops.

But now… Who is Jax? Jax, born Jaclyn Cole Miskanic (27), grew to fame in 2015 when she placed 3rd in the 14th season of American Idol. Since then, the singer has been releasing her own music while being also very active on social media – especially TikTok. Jax’s biggest hits to date, which made her enter the music charts, include her viral hit songs ‘Like My Father’ and ‘Victoria’s Secret’.

Simple Plan’s collaboration with Jax has been in works for months now. We even asked Chuck and Jeff from Simple Plan about this possible collaboration during our latest SimplePlan.cz interview at Rock For People and the boys indirectly confirmed both a collaboration with Jax as well her connection to the song ‘Iconic’. You can listen to this interview here.

Jax has already performed her version of the song ‘Iconic’ with Simple Plan at Jones Beach Theatre in Wantagh, NY, USA on September 2nd (during their tour with The Offspring and Sum 41), where the fans got to hear her new verse for the first time. Check it out on the video below:

Blink-182 played a cover of Simple Plan’s ‘I’d Do Anything’ at Montreal show

Pop-punk legends Blink-182 performed at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada last night (May 12th) as part of their world tour and while playing their very last song, they paid their respects to Simple Plan by performing a snippet of their song. During the final song of the set, ‘Dammit’, one of the band’s most notorious songs, Blink-182 suddenly switched to perform an interesting rendition of ‘I’d Do Anything’ by Simple Plan, who are well-known to be originate from Montreal. The choice of ‘I’d Do Anything’ is even more special because Blink-182’s singer Mark Hoppus is featured on this track as well as on the music video.

The members of Simple Plan have of course been very happy to hear about this cover happening in their hometown and immediately reposted this honor from their pop punk heroes all over their social media channels.
