Get your photo to Simple Plan’s live show during This Song Saved My Life!
23rd January 2012 // Permalink // No Comments

The song This Song Saved My Life is probably the most special song both for Simple Plan, as well as for their fans. And as you can see, clearly Simple Plan want their fans to be a part of this song every step of the way: they were there when it was being written, recorded and now they will have a chance to be a part of a planned photo display during Simple Plan’s live performances.

So the guys came up with a little contest, which YOU can take a part of:

Go to the newly opened photo album on the band’s official website, add a picture of yourself – you can display what the song’s lyrics or how Simple Plan’s songs have saved your life – anything. The most important thing is for you to submit it in high quality, so that they can be used for the photo display. The guys will be choosing a few of them this week :)

So, make sure to participate! It doesn’t happen that often that you have a chance to be seen all over the world during Simple Plan’s live concerts :)

Pierre mentions new DVD and EP with unreleased songs
23rd January 2012 // Permalink // No Comments

Earlier this month, we’ve found out that Simple Plan are currently working on another DVD, that would be a sequel to the very successful A Big Package For You – Simple Plan’s last DVD, released back in 2003. Apart from that, rumour had it the guys were even considering releasing an EP with some unreleased tracks, that Simple Plan wrote in the process of making their last album, yet they didn’t make it through the cut – and since the guys wrote more than 60 songs for Get Your Heart On!, there were MANY leftovers!

In a recent interview (thanks to CSP for the info), Pierre addressed this matter again:

“I think it’ll be a DVD containing a material of the choice of our fans. If possible, we’ll also release some songs that we never released before, because we know our fans want more and more. If possible, we’ll make a mini-album with the DVD in the next tour and I hope we finish it soon.”

Jet Lag nominated for “Song Of The Year” at Canadian Radio Music Awards
14th January 2012 // Permalink // No Comments

Simple Plan really are doing well with Get Your Heart On! Not only is their latest single Summer Paradise topping the Australian music charts, their first official single off their latest record – Jet Lag – has just received a nomination on the annual Canadian Radio Music Awards in the “Song Of The Year” category!

Simple Plan’s Jet Lag will be competing against Alyssa Reid’s “Alone Again”, Martin Solveig & Dragonette’s “Hello”, Kristina Maria’s “Let’s Play” and Fefe Dobson’s “Stuttering”. The awards will be presented during a gala luncheon at Toronto’s Fairmont Royal York Hotel on March 23rd as part of Canadian Music Week. Unfortunately, due to their busy schedule and a tour in Europe at that time, the boys won’t be able to attend this ceremony. Good luck boys and may the odds be ever in your favor!

14 year-old-fan sings Jet Lag on stage with Simple Plan
13th January 2012 // Permalink // 2 Comments

Simple Plan fans tend to have many dreams: some of them are happy when the band releases their new album, some of them can’t contain their excitement when they find out they are coming to their country, and some of them like to dream a little further than that: to the point where they wish Simple Plan played in their backyard or to have a chance to sing one of their songs with them on stage.

And some dreams do really come true. On the soundcheck for yesterday’s show in Manila, Philippines, Rica Singh (14), a hard-core Simple Plan fan, who has been listening to them ever since she was 5 years old, came to the venue with a huge sign saying: “Please, let me sing Jet Lag (French) with you on stage!”. David was the first to notice the sign and the band invited little Rica on the stage rightaway to fulfull her big dream.

Below you can check out a video of Rica’s reaction to being able to perform with her favourite band and their whole performance of the French version of Jet Lag:

New Year’s show brought another Jet Lag collaboration: Chantal Kreviazuk
1st January 2012 // Permalink // No Comments

It has already become sort of a tradition for Simple Plan to whenever they have the chance (and Marie-Mai or Natashu Bedingfield are not around), they always try to find a female singer to perform Jet Lag with them on the show they are scheduled to play. And last night’s New Year’s show at Niagara Falls was no exception: Simple Plan were accompanied by a Canadian singer Chantal Kreviazuk.

If this name doesn’t ring any bell to you, you may have heard at least about her songwriting skills: in her career, Chantal has written (or co-written) for a huge number of musical artists: from Avril Lavigne (He Wasn’t) to Gwen Stefani (Rich Girl). She is also married to the lead singer of the band Our Lady Peace (Raine Maida), that also performed at this event.

Make sure to check out the gallery for the first pictures of Chantal on stage with the members of Simple Plan.

Another version of Jet Lag – in English with the Indonesian band Kotak
30th December 2011 // Permalink // 1 Comment

Another collaboration which Simple Plan came up with for their song Jet Lag is the previously mentioned Indonesian band called Kotak that will be opening for Simple Plan on their two shows in Indonesia in January. Just like we saw it happen with the Chinese version of Jet Lag (feat. Kelly Cha), also this one has been released as a music video, including added scenes to the original recording directed by Frank Borin. This time, the song is in English with the little change from the original version that the music video does not only feature the female lead singer, but the whole band Kotak which consists of 2 women and 1 man. This way we can also interpret the music video as Pierre missing (and being missed by) a threesome of people :)

How do you like this version, when you compare it with the other ones?
