Simple Plan score with 2 albums on Rock Sound’s “100 Best Pop-punk Albums” list!

For the past few days, the British magazine Rock Sound has been slowly revealing the results of their recently featured online poll, which asked music fans to vote for the best pop-punk album. Over 26 000 people voted in and decided the final positions on the list, which has now revealed to us that the public voted not just one, but two Simple Plan albums amongst the 100 Best Pop-Punk Albums!

The best-standing of their albums on this list is their debut album ‘No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls’, which ranks at no. 31, surpassing other classics like Jimmy Eat World’s ‘Bleed American’, The All-American Rejects’ ‘Move Along’ or The Offspring’s ‘Americana’!

The second Simple Plan album featured on this list is their subsequent record ‘Still Not Getting Any..’ which ranked a little lower – at no. 67!

What a great result! It definitely serves as a reassurance that Simple Plan’s music is still very much deep-seated into the minds of music fans and has clearly made an impact on the industry.

Previously, Simple Plan’s No Pads album was featured on a list published by Kerrang back in 2015, where it placed as the 26th “Greatest Pop-Punk Album Ever”. Similarly in 2017, Rolling Stone called this album 33rd “Greatest Pop-Punk Album Of All Time”.

Vote for Simple Plan at NME Awards 2017

NME is hosting another awards show next year and starting now you can help Simple Plan get a NME Award as well!

The voting poll is now open and in order to get the best possible results, we decided to co-operate with Simple Plan Brazil and suggest you the same categories and same answers to them, by nominating Singing In The Rain as the best song and best music video as it is the most recent already released music video which has already received some attention worldwide (unlike Perfectly Perfect, which hasn’t been out for a long time, and the video is still yet to come out).

You can vote for Simple Plan in the following suggested categories:

  • Best International Band – Simple Plan
  • Best Live Band – Simple Plan
  • Best Album – “Taking One for the Team” – Simple Plan
  • Best Track – “Singing In the Rain” – Simple Plan
  • Best Music Video – “Singing In the Rain” – Simple Plan

VOTE: Which single should Simple Plan release next?

It’s been a couple months now that Simple Plan have released ‘Singing In The Rain’ as their second official single from their new album ‘Taking One For Team’ (after the first single ‘I Don’t Wanna Go To Bed’). Besides these two songs, the band has also released three buzz singles, two of which even received a music video treatment, even though these songs weren’t sent to be played on radios. These songs were ‘Boom’, ‘I Don’t Wanna Be Sad’ and ‘Opinion Overload’. That means there’s not that many choices left as to what their third oficial single from the record could be.

Now let’s put our heads together and let’s see which song the fans think would be a great third single!

Now remember – a single should be a song that could do well on a radio. That means a song that could persuade maybe even a diferent kind of audience than their fanbase consists of already. At the same time though, it should also be a song that represents the band – because the song’s style may then become the type of style the general public will then connect to the band’s name with.

Remember, this is no official poll and its results may not persuade the band to choose their next single. But it will be interesting to check out what their fans would like to see the band release next.

So which song should be the next Simple Plan single, according to you?

‘Singing In The Rain’ moves from new addition to #2 on Czech TV Óčko chart!

If we needed just one more proof how incredible the Czech fans of Simple Plan are, here’s one: last week, Simple Plan’s new music video for ‘Singing In The Rain’ was added to Czech music TV’s Óčko music video chart as a new addition (N1). From there, by the fans’ votes, it was able to move up to any of the 20 places that are available on the Óčko chart.

And the fans made sure they wouldn’t let their band down and voted their fingers off. And thanks to their dedication, Simple Plan’s ‘Singing In The Rain’ climbed all the way up to the #2 spot on Óčko chart, beating several high profile artists, such as Justin Bieber, Sia or Meghan Trainor! Incredible. Congratulations!

You can help keep Simple Plan up on the chart’s #2 spot for next week – and even help them reach #1 too by voting for them daily on the link below:

Simple Plan progressing on Czech charts

Even though almost two months have passed since the Prague show, Simple Plan have not lost their popularity in Czech media since then. For instance, the song ‘Opinion Overload’, although not an official single from the Taking One For The Team album, the song has been going strong in the TOP 20 MODERN ROCK chart of the Czech branch of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). This particular chart documents the 20 most played rock songs on Czech radios every week.

As you can see from the table below, ‘Opinion Overload’ can currently pride itself with the highest position (#14) of this song on this chart ever since it reached the TOP 20:

However it is their second single off their new record – Singing In The Rain, for which the band recently released a music video, that Simple Plan are counting on the most. And it is precisely the video and single for ‘Singing In The Rain’ that the Czech music website MusicServer reviewed very positively today – giving it 8/10. While the article admits that the song is definitely a very pop material, it describes it as a “well-written [song] that definitely stays in your head after first listen and makes one wanna tap their feet and immediately start singing along.” Along with that, MusicServer also marked the song as the next big summer hit, which is definitely a very good news!

And while radios over here in the Czech Republic are still only very slowly putting ‘Singing In The Rain’ on, as you already know from one of my previous articles, the Czech music television TV ÓČKO has been airing the music video for a couple days now. This week, the clip has also finally been added as a new addition (N1) to the Óčko chart, where starting today, you can start voting for it! In the past, the fans of Simple Plan have been known on this station to have extremely good voting skills, so let’s not disappoint this time and let’s move SP to the top of the chart! You can vote until Tuesday – just go on the chart’s website, scroll down to N1 and click on the link next to the title of the song.
