Recap: Simple Plan at We Day

Canada’s capital city Ottawa experienced an incredible event yesterday – National We Day. We Day is a youth empowernment movement that gathers thousands of teenage volunteers and their teachers for events that gather annually in different cities across the US, Canada and UK, where these people can learn more about how they can get involved with helping to make the world a better place.

This year’s final We Day event, organised by Craig and Marc Kielburger (co-founders of the Free The Children foundation), took place in Ottawa and welcomed more than 16 000 students and teachers from all over Canada. The attendees had the chance to listen to encouraging speeches from such personalities as Martin Luther King III., Her Majesty Queer Noor of Jordan or Spencer West and musical performance by artists like Neverest, Kardinal Offishall and Simple Plan.

Before Simple Plan took to the stage, they walked the We Day red carpet and attended a press conference. There, Pierre spoke about his admiration of Free The Children’s work: “(Free the Children is) really trying to inspire kids to do things hands-on, to kind of get involved, instead of just standing back and talking about it or criticizing it.”

In the gallery you can check out more pictures from the backstage of We Day – for example the picture of Simple Plan with Craig Kielburger. Worth checking out are also some new additions in the red carpet/press conference album:
