Simple Plan to write songs with Alex Gaskarth and Mark Hoppus!

Looks like Simple Plan are really trying to get back to their roots with their next album. I mean, if you add one member of Blink-182, one member of All Time Low and two members of Simple Plan, you surely have a recipe for an instant pop-punk hit. And believe it or not, that is exactly what’s happening today: Pierre jumped on Instagram this morning, where he revealed that him and Chuck will be song-writing with the legend that is Mark Hoppus from Blink-182 and Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low. It can’t get any more pop-punk than this, now, can it?

Mark Hoppus later confirmed this with a tweet written in French, saying: “Yes, I am writing a song with Simple Plan today so I’m learning French-Canadian. I am the best. Thank you.”

Simple Plan have previous relations to both of these musicians. Mark Hoppus knew the guys from Simple Plan even back when they were in Reset and was one of the first people who got to hear “I’d Do Anything” (which was according to Mark one of his “ten favorite songs of all time” at the time Chuck showed him the demo) and eventually got the offer from the SP guys to sing on it as well as be featured in the music video.

Alex Gaskarth has been a fan of Simple Plan for ever. At the Bamboozle Roadshow in 2010 Simple Plan’s and All Time Low’s paths crossed for the very first time and the members of both bands became very good friends which resulted in Alex Gaskarth singing on “Freaking Me Out” and All Time Low using a song initially just co-written by Pierre and Chuck from Simple Plan – “Time Bomb”. Since then the bands have performed together numerous times – most significantly at Simple Plan’s Canadian tour, where All Time Low were one of their opening bands.
