10 years since No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls
19th March 2012 // Permalink // 1 Comment

The day has come! Today, March 19th 2012, we commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the release of Simple Plan’s very first album “No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls”.

Shortly after Sebastien and Jeff started putting together a new band in 1999, Chuck joined them after his departure from Reset. The guys were still missing the lead singer, so after many failed trials, they finally called their good old pal Pierre (who was also the reason Chuck left Reset earlier) and tried him out. Things started going really good and after they recruited David (who has in the meantime managed to replace Pierre in Reset and leave it just as quickly), the band was formed in May 2000. In 2001 the guys started recording their first record which was released in March 2002.

Ever since 2005, this record has been certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as double platinum – as the only Simple Plan record so far – for selling more than two million copies.

For the band, their first decade has been really successful – they’ve released 4 albums, are still in the same formation that they started as (which is a very unique thing in the music industry) and they’ve travelled the whole world. So congratulation guys for the anniversary and good luck for the next decade :)

If you’d like to celebrate today’s 10th anniversary of their debut album with Simple Plan, make sure to be around at 4:30pm CET on their official website for the live webchat with the band. :)

Simple Plan revealed a brand new section for their 10th anniversary on their official website today, in which you will be able to remind yourselves of all the tracks from No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls, also of the live version of these tracks from the Live from Anaheim album and some of the old school covers and b-sides the guys have recorded back then, like Happy Together or One By One.

And below you can watch a video of the guys looking back at the past 10 years:

7 years since the release of the “Shut Up” music video
17th January 2012 // Permalink // No Comments

It sounds pretty unbelievable, but today it’s been exactly 7 years since the world premiere of the music video for Shut Up! back in 2005. The music video for the second single off their second album called “Still Not Getting Any…” was directed by Erik White in Los Angeles, California. The shooting took place on December 15th 2004. And of course, our beloved Patrick Langlois could not be missing in this video, so if you’re still not sure where exactly he is – he portrays the valet in front of the hotel, where Simple Plan crashed the ballroom and made a pretty huge mess before finding out it was not really the place to be at.

You can remind yourselves of the 6th Simple Plan music video right here. :)

7 years since the release of Still Not Getting Any…
26th October 2011 // Permalink // 1 Comment

Today we commemorate another important anniversary – exactly seven years ago – on October 24th 2004 Simple Plan released their second studio album – Still Not Getting Any…!

The album debuted on Billboard 200 on the third place, making it the highest debuting Simple Plan album on this chart. Still Not Getting Any became groundbreaking for the band mostly in Europe when the first single off the album – “Welcome To My Life” came out and brought the band millions of new fans.

The cover of the album has many versions, depending on the country of origin: the standard version is the basic blue photoshoot, whereas the other versions of the cover include photos of the band members in different age stages (and can also be found in the booklet of the album). Check out the making of this photoshoot below (and in the subsequent parts):

It’s been exactly 32 years since the day that Charles André Comeau, the drummer and songwriter of the band Simple Plan, was born. On behalf of SimplePlan.cz, I would like to wish him lots of luck, health, love, success with the band and in his private life too.

Happy birthday, Chuck!
