Simple Plan Foundation’s benefit concert raises $300 000!
21st September 2011 // Permalink // No Comments

This year’s Simple Plan Foundation’s benefit event has been a great success. First, on the press conference in the afternoon, the band presented the donations for this year: the total of $220 000 will be split between 24 organisations (in comparison to last year’s donations ($185 000), SPF donated a lot more this year).

The benefit event itself started at 4pm when the doors opened to the visitors/audience, who bought the tickets for this special occasion. The money raised from the full price of the tickets and also from the silent auction will go to the Simple Plan Foundation and will be used in next year’s donations. In total, Simple Plan Foundation has raised over $300 000 last night. After the doors opened, the members of Simple Plan have mingled among the 2000 guests to chat, sign and take pictures.

The most important part of the evening, though, was still to come. Simple Plan and the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra (consisted of 92 players) have performed a very special reendition of 15 Simple Plan songs in the course of a 2-hours-long concert. The songs included: Shut Up, Addicted, Welcome To My Life, Summer Paradise, Astronaut, Jet Lag (with Marie-Mai), I’m Just A Kid, One, Your Love Is A Lie, ending with This Song Saved My Life. Jeff Stinco said about this experience: “Tonight, playing with the Montreal Symphony orchestra was the highlight of my career.”.

The whole show has been recorded and according to the press should be soon broadcast on ARTV and Télé-Quebec.

You can check out the first photos from the event in thegallery and also below you can watch a spectacular video showing the song Astronaut performed by Simple Plan and the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra:

Simple Plan joins forces with Montreal Symphonic Orchestra on the annual SPF benefit event
18th July 2011 // Permalink // No Comments

Every year around mid-September, Simple Plan are hosting a special benefit event of their own Simple Plan Foundation in Montreal, Canada. Apart from fundraising, these events also serve as press conferences which announce the foundation’s goals and achievements and the event also has an entertaining purpose.

This year’s benefit event is very special, as the members of Simple Plan will be performing alongside the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra (OSM), conducted by Simona Leclerc (on picture with Simple Plan from their show in Montreal on June 20th 2011).

The event will take place on September 20th in the new OSM hall and Simple Plan will be the first pop artists to perform there. All the raised money will go to the Simple Plan Foundation which will then donate parts to many organisations and charities that it supports. The main goal of the Simple Plan Foundation (founded in 2005) is to help young troubled people or seriously ill people and at the same time encourage them in learning and practising music as a way to find a purpose in their lives.

The tickets to this benefit event are already on sale from $75 to $250.

New Simple Plan t-shirt design to help Japan
15th March 2011 // Permalink // 2 Comments

I assume the news about the horrible earthquake, which occured in Japan, the following tsunami and about all the disasters that both of them caused since then, had a deep impact on each of us. Since Friday you could have heard in all the media about many famous personalities, who have already tried to help as much as they could to support the victims in Japan: from Lady Gaga to Justin Bieber.

It’s safe to say it was just a matter of time till the Simple Plan guys announced their ways of helping Japan. Last night Simple Plan announced that their very own Simple Plan Foundation would donate $10 000 to the Canadian Red Cross to help Japan, and what more: a new Simple Plan t-shirt designed to remind us of the flag of Japan, will help raise even more money for the devastated country. You can buy it for $20 in the official Simple Plan Foundation store:

It absolutely breaks our hearts to watch the horrible images and videos of the devastation that has hit Japan following the March 11th earthquake and tsunami. We had the privilege to visit Japan many times over the last 10 years and It’s one of the most amazing place in the world. To see such destruction has deeply affected everyone in the band.

The Simple Plan Foundation has decided to donate $10,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to help Japan earthquake and tsunami Relief Effort.

We also designed a special #HelpJapan shirt to help raise money for the Red Cross. All proceeds from the sale of this special shirt will go to the Red Cross Japan Relief Effort.

Please join us and help us support Japan by purchasing your own today. You can click here and HELP!

Thank you very much for your generosity. To all our amazing japanese fans and friends and everyone who was has been hit by this horrible tragedy, we are praying for you and sending you LOVE and HOPE.

Domo arigato. Thank you.

Chuck, Pierre, Jeff, Seb and David
