The Vamps’ Connor Ball expressed wish to work with Pierre Bouvier

RockSound recently interviewed Connor Ball, bassist of the British pop rock band The Vamps, who recently started a new side project The Lunar Year. Besides his side project, the interviewer also asked Connor who else he would possibly like to work with in the future and surprisingly, Connor explained his connection with Pierre Bouvier from Simple Plan and expressed his wish to possibly do some collaboration together in the future.

Check out what Connor said below:

“I mean, there’s so many people, like all my favorite bands I’m down. I speak to Pierre from Simple Plan a lot and he’s a great guy. I’d love to get into the studio with him. And he’s a production tweak actually, so it would be cool to do something with him.”

LISTEN TO: Italian artist’s GionnyScandal’s new song ‘Nicotina’ feat. Pierre Bouvier

During his time in the pandemic, Pierre Bouvier tried to keep himself busy by getting involved in multiple music projects outside of Simple Plan, helping out talented new and also some established artists and working with them to make their new releases better. One of these artists, a 29-year-old Italian singer/rapper GionnyScandal, who’s made his name known in Italy all the way back in 2011 with his first album, which then immediately topped the Italian TOP 10 best-selling records on iTunes of that time.

GionnyScandal was the one to contact Pierre on his Instagram, with zero hopes that his message would even be read. To his surprise however, Pierre not only read his message, he replied and a collaboration between the two artists was suddenly underway. Pierre worked with GionnyScandal via videochat and together they came up with the chorus of the song ‘Nicotina’, which Pierre is also featured on.

Read what GionnyScandal said about this collaboration with one of his favorite musicians:

“I have his poster in my bedroom, I told myself that to give credibility to a project of this kind I have to rely on one of the greatest exponents of the genre, and it doesn’t cost anything to try. So, without going through the bureaucracy of the record company, I wrote to him on Instagram directly, asking to do a piece with him. [After I lost all hope] and after twenty days, he simply replied: ‘Yes, let’s do it.’ I called everyone as if I had won the lottery! I sent him a piece already complete, he answered me after another 15 days, he gave me his number and we did the feat on a video-call writing the ‘Nicotina’ refrain with the chords. I was struck by the fact that he is a very humble rock star and this paradox is great. Later, on Whatsapp, he thanked me for having him on my record and that was crazy because for me it was exactly the opposite. I think I will print and hang that Whatsapp screenshot on my wall.”

The song ‘Nicotina’ (feat. Pierre Bouvier) is featured as track no. 6 on GionnnyScandal’s new album “Anti”, released on May 7th 2021. Check out the full song below and make sure to let us know what you think:

Simple Plan’s and New Found Glory’s change of social media profile pictures triggers rumors about possible tour / collab

In an unexpected turn of events, both Simple Plan and New Found Glory have changed their official profile picture on all of their social medias at the same time today to a cartoon featuring a victorious slice of pizza. The image can now be seen on their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. While Simple Plan’s cartoon is placed on a black background, New Found Glory’s places on a white background. Pizza is of course a long-standing symbol for pop-punk in general. It is also fair to note that this change happened on February 9th, which is known to be the “National Pizza Day”.

This sudden change of profile photo of course immediately triggered rumours in both fandoms about possible collaboration or tour featuring both of these well-known pop-punk bands. Both Simple Plan and New Found Glory are set to release new albums this year so a collaboration of some sort wouldn’t be entirely impossible idea. Especially given that the members of the bands have already collaborated before – Jordan Pundik, New Found Glory’s lead singer, was featured on Simple Plan’s last album ‘Taking One For The Team’, where he sang on the song ‘Farewell’.

Since neither Simple Plan nor New Found Glory have posted any explanation to this change or why both these bands used the same cartoon, we are left wondering and can only wait for a proper explanation hopefully soon.

We The Kings tease a secret collaboration with Simple Plan coming soon!

Ever since December, we’ve been aware that Pierre and Chuck from Simple Plan have been organizing songwriting sessions with Travis Clark, the lead singer of the American band We The Kings. And so far, we know of at least three songwriting sessions that these three musicians have done together.

Out of nowhere, though, today We The Kings posted a picture of Travis, Pierre and Chuck together on their band’s official Instagram profile, teasing something special that is coming “soon”:

“We The Kings x Simple Plan coming soon. What you might ask? Only the best.”

– We The Kings –

Now, let’s see what this “something” could possibly be!

We already know that the trio has written multiple songs together over the past few months and that the songwriting was done for Simple Plan’s purposes, not We The Kings’. We also know that Simple Plan planned on releasing some new music in the beginning of this year and Jeff was even spotted playing some new SP music on his Instagram recently. This all could technically mean we might expect Simple Plan to drop a brand new song, co-written by Travis Clark from We The Kings. But would just a songwriter’s credit really be worth a whole Instagram post/announcement for We The Kings? Nah, we don’t think so. Another possibility is that Travis Clark could actually be featured on a new Simple Plan song and perhaps even appear in a future music video. What else is left then is a joined tour for these two bands, who have previously already toured together multiple times – and we’re not gonna lie – we would definitely be up for another round!

But as We The Kings said, we shall see soon. How long is this “soon” gonna take, though? We’re gonna have to wait to find out! :)
