Pierre Bouvier featured on a new song ‘Don’t Listen To My Voicemail’ by Your Broken Hero

Matt Cutshall, who raised to fame with his comedic ‘Emo’s Not Dead’ videos depicting him as a stereotypical “emo” boy, which have in the past featured many popular figures from the alternative scene including e.g. All Time Low, Simple Plan or Tony Hawk.

Besides videos, Cutshall has also been known to produce his own music with his project ‘Your Broken Hero’, which is to release a brand new album later this year. Yesterday, he finally released a brand new song from this upcoming album, which is titled ‘Don’t Listen To My Voicemail’ and features none other but Pierre Bouvier from Simple Plan on the song’s chorus.

Pierre also appears in the music video for this song, which you can check out below:

LISTEN TO: Italian artist’s GionnyScandal’s new song ‘Nicotina’ feat. Pierre Bouvier

During his time in the pandemic, Pierre Bouvier tried to keep himself busy by getting involved in multiple music projects outside of Simple Plan, helping out talented new and also some established artists and working with them to make their new releases better. One of these artists, a 29-year-old Italian singer/rapper GionnyScandal, who’s made his name known in Italy all the way back in 2011 with his first album, which then immediately topped the Italian TOP 10 best-selling records on iTunes of that time.

GionnyScandal was the one to contact Pierre on his Instagram, with zero hopes that his message would even be read. To his surprise however, Pierre not only read his message, he replied and a collaboration between the two artists was suddenly underway. Pierre worked with GionnyScandal via videochat and together they came up with the chorus of the song ‘Nicotina’, which Pierre is also featured on.

Read what GionnyScandal said about this collaboration with one of his favorite musicians:

“I have his poster in my bedroom, I told myself that to give credibility to a project of this kind I have to rely on one of the greatest exponents of the genre, and it doesn’t cost anything to try. So, without going through the bureaucracy of the record company, I wrote to him on Instagram directly, asking to do a piece with him. [After I lost all hope] and after twenty days, he simply replied: ‘Yes, let’s do it.’ I called everyone as if I had won the lottery! I sent him a piece already complete, he answered me after another 15 days, he gave me his number and we did the feat on a video-call writing the ‘Nicotina’ refrain with the chords. I was struck by the fact that he is a very humble rock star and this paradox is great. Later, on Whatsapp, he thanked me for having him on my record and that was crazy because for me it was exactly the opposite. I think I will print and hang that Whatsapp screenshot on my wall.”

The song ‘Nicotina’ (feat. Pierre Bouvier) is featured as track no. 6 on GionnnyScandal’s new album “Anti”, released on May 7th 2021. Check out the full song below and make sure to let us know what you think:

EXCLUSIVE: Pierre joined Bowling For Soup on stage for ‘Ohio’ on Warped Tour in Hartford

Big thanks to our “overseas correspondent” Andrew from the Czech Republic, who happened to attend the Warped Tour date in Hartford, CT, we found out that last night the attendees of the Bowling For Soup set were pleasantly surprised when the band invited Pierre Bouvier from Simple Plan on stage.

Pierre joined Bowling For Soup for their song ‘Ohio (Come Back To Texas)’ and since Andrew managed to film this special appearance on camera and send it to us today, you can now check out this exclusive footage from last night in Hartford. Check out how Pierre did below:

Simple Plan give a hint on surprise featurings on new album

Just like its predecessor Get Your Heart On!, Simple Plan’s yet-untitled (but soon to be revealed) fifth studio album, which will be released in February 2016, will also include a number of special guests, who will lend their voices to some of the new SP tracks.

In one of the recent interviews Simple Plan did in Milan, for Spazio Rock [which you can read in Italian here], the boys were asked if fans could expect some interesting featurings on the record. The band members confirmed that there definitely are some surprise featurings with some “great artists” and even gave us all a small hint that “they are great friends of the band.”

Now, who exactly the guys invited to sing on their newest record we most probably won’t find out till February, but until then, we are free to guess. The fact that the artist (or artists) are great friends of Simple Plan is itself a very important clue. It means it won’t be just someone – just some big name on the scene – but somone the guys actually have some history with. There could be a number of possibilities – if we’re gonna stick with the alternative/pop-punk scene (which is where we can find most of SP’s friends) it could be some of the younger bands (or their lead singers) on the scene, such as All Time Low, who we know are very close friends with Simple Plan. However this option seems less likely as Alex Gaskarth was already featured on the last Simple Plan record (on the song “Freaking Me Out”). Another very close band to Simple Plan is Good Charlotte, who recently came back with a brand new song and a new album in works. While Joel Madden also already appeared on a Simple Plan album (you may recall his voice on “You Don’t Mean Anything” on SP’s first album), it’s been over 13 years and it would be very interesting to see what SP and GC could do together again. Who knows, maybe this time around more GC band members could be involved in a song with SP. Same thing goes to Mark Hoppus of Blink-182, who has also known SP since the beginning and also already appeared on “I’d Do Anything” on the No Pads album. In this “younger bands” regard, the guys could also think of using the help of people such as Tyson Ritter of The All-American Rejects, Jacob Hoggard of Hedley, Brian Logan Dales of The Summer Set or Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench (who definitely worked with Simple Plan on their new album, however it’s unknown whether just as a song-writer or something more).

And while the second/third generation of pop-punk bands are one option, there is always the option of Simple Plan turning to their even older friends/bands, who they may have toured with back in the old-school days. That could be nicely tied with their effort to bring some of the old-school pop-punk sound to some of their songs on their new record. As we know, Simple Plan are great friends or still keep in touch with the likes of Mike Herrera of MxPx, Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray or Joey Cape of Bad Astronaut.

But let’s not stick to only male voices – Simple Plan already proved a number times in the past with their many collaborations with female artists – both in the studio and on the road – that Simple Plan’s songs also sound great with some fantastic female voices thrown in. If we were to think of a female voice from the scene (who could potentially be considered friends of SP), names like Jenna McDougall of Tonight Alive and even Hayley Williams of Paramore (although she might be the hardest to get with Paramore’s recent rocket to fame) come to mind. Also local lesser-known Canadian singers such as Andee or Audrey Jolin that worked with Sebastien are always a possibility.

But who do you guys think could be behind the guest vocals on Simple Plan’s album no.5? Who would you like to hear? Should SP go the male or female way? Let me know in the comments!

Simple Plan spark up more rumors about possible 5 Seconds Of Summer featuring

Ever since August 2014, rumors about a possible music collaboration between Simple Plan and 5 Seconds of Summer kept popping up every other month, more and more confirming that the Canadians and Australians were up to something together. However it wasn’t until February 2015 that we knew for a fact that Chuck and Pierre spent a few days writing with Callum and Michael from 5SOS.

Now, it’s been a while since we’ve heard anything new about this collaboration – that is until now. In one of their most recent replies from Simple Plan’s official Twitter, the band commented on a fan’s tweet regarding a possible featuring of 5SOS on one of the tracks on Simple Plan’s upcoming album, saying “you never know”.

While uptil now it was only certain that there are some songs written by the bands together (with no indication to which band would end up using these songs), this is the first time Simple Plan commented on an information regarding specifically a featuring of 5 Seconds of Summer on one of their tracks. But keep in mind there has not been any official confirmation of such featuring.

What would you say if one (or more) of the 5SOS guys were featured on one of the new SP tracks? Which one would be the best choice in your opinion?
