Simple Plan and Good Charlotte shake hands on new pics from Warped Rewind At Sea!

Kerrang recently published a bunch of new photos from the recent Warped Rewind At Sea cruise, which took over 2000 fans and tons of bands on a return boat ride from New Orleans to Cozumel, Mexico at the end of October.

On the newly released photos, you’ll be able to check out some cool meetings of your favorite bands – whether it was the time when SP & GC hung out on the deck or when all the bands decided to take a group photo. Have a look at all the pics from Warped Rewind At Sea in our gallery:

Pierre about a concert experience that changed his life

According to SPB, a short piece written by Pierre Bouvier from Simple Plan was featured in the Kerrang magazine recently. In this article, Pierre reminisces about the first concert that influenced his following career and made him truly want to be in a band.

Check out Pierre’s memories on the NOFX / Face To Face / Ten Foot Pole / Trigger Happy show that took place in Montreal in 1994 below:

NOFX, Face to Face, Ten Foot Pole, Trigger Happy
The Spectrum – Montreal (November, 15 1994)

This was the first show I ever saw that had a real impact on me. I was 15 years old and I knew how to play guitar a sing a little, but I had never seen a true rock show. I’d just started a band with Chuck Comeau about a year before, and both of us were obsessed with the SoCal punk scene, which was huge in Montreal at the time.

The show was sold-out, and as soon as the first note was played by the opening band, Trigger Happy, the crowd went insane. It was like a gigantic steam room in there, with people moshing and stage-diving nonstop for hours – it was like nothing I had ever seen before. I spent some time in the mosh-pit getting smashed around, but I soon realised that what I really wanted was to be up on that stage. The music the bands were playing was amazing, and the energy coming off these guys onstage was palpable! I knew right then and there that this was what I wanted to do more than anything. I watched and listened to all the bands attentively and studied their moves and banter.

It felt like I had finally found where I belonged. I remember whe the show was finally over, I bought an oversized, mustard yellow Ten Foot Pole t-shirt and a few CDs. From there on out, all I wanted to do was listen to music, play in our band and somehow find a way to do this for a living.

Simple Plan among Kerrang’s “Greatest pop-punk albums ever”

If you’re in the UK (or anywhere else where you’re lucky enough to get your hands on it), make sure to check out the brand new issue of the Kerrang magazine. The editors of the music magazine put together a list of the “greatest pop-punk albums ever”, which includes the likes of Blink-182, All Time Low, Green Day and lo and behold – Simple Plan.

Yes! Simple Plan are in fact number 26 on the list with their debut album “No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls” (2002) which introduced the five Canadians to the whole world.

The part about SP also includes a short quote from Pierre about the recording process of this album (big thanks to Michaela!):

“I remember recording this album while living at Amyard Studios in the industrial part of north Toronto. We couldn’t afford a hotel, so we ate, slept and recorded there for months. It felt like it took forever, but when it was done, we knew we had something special. I think the lyrics struck a chord with a lot of people. Songs like ‘I’m Just A Kid’ and ‘Perfect’ had an honesty and irreverence that connected on a deep level.”

Backstage at Reading and Leeds

Simple Plan spent the past two days on their first ever visit of the Reading and Leeds festivals in the United Kingdom, where they gave the crowd some amazingly energetic performances. And while you’ve already seen some live shots from Reading and we’re still waiting for some new images from Leeds, below you can check out some pictures from the backstage of there two British festivals – in Reading for example, Chuck, Pierre and Sebastien were supposed to draw what Reading means to them and in Leeds, the band mostly celebrated David’s birthday:

But besides pictures, the first interview from SP’s stay in the UK is finally up! Check out this one from Kerrang, in which Chuck and Seb talk about what it’s like to finally be at Reading and what they think music means to the local people:
