Setlist of Simple Plan’s tour in Mexico

After more than half a year of not setting foot on a stage and also for the first time “out of the country” (if we don’t count the two countries SP members reside in – Canada and the U.S.) ever since COVID hit, the boys flew to Mexico at the end of last week to perform at one festival and three headlining shows. On Saturday, Simple Plan performed at the Tecato Pa’l Norte festival in Monterrey, Mexico and yesterday they finally did their own show in Mexico City (with Papa Roach and Emo Nite). On Wednesday, they will be performing in Guadalajara and Thursday is gonna be a great night for the SP fans in Puebla.

I’m sure many of you are already wondering what the setlist of these shows looks like. Simple Plan are mostly known to sticking to a certain structure of a setlist and only sometimes changing one or two songs. Already we have two setlists available – one from a festival and one from a headlining show. Given that distinction, it’s clear that the festival setlist had to be a bit shorter (15 songs), while the headlining show’s setlist got to be a little longer (17 songs). This longer setlist is what you can be looking at as a guide to what the remaining two shows of the tour may look like.

Below you can check out the full setlist from the headlining show in Mexico City from April 4th. The only difference between this setlist and the festival one was the addition of ‘Take My Hand’ and ‘Where I Belong’:

1. I’d Do Anything
2. Shut Up!
3. Jump
4. Addicted
5. Jet Lag
6. Boom!
7. Your Love Is a Lie
8. Welcome to My Life
9. The Antidote
10. Take My Hand
11. Where I Belong
12. Can’t Keep My Hands Off You
13. Crazy
14. Summer Paradise
15. What’s New Scooby Doo
16. I’m Just a Kid
17. Perfect

At the Tecato Pa’l Norte festival in Monterrey, Simple Plan debuted with the first ever official live performance of ‘The Antidote’. Make sure to check out the video below to see what this performance of SP’s first single off their upcoming album (Harder Than It Looks – comes out May 6th) looked like:

Simple Plan confirmed to play two more dates in Mexico in April – one of them with Papa Roach!

Mexican fans can rejoice even more! After it was announced a couple months ago that Simple Plan would be performing at a festival in Monterrey, Mexico, the word has now spread from the Mexican concert info Instagram @ocesa, that Simple Plan will in fact also be playing two other headlining shows: one in Mexico City and one in Puebla.

The first show will take place in Mexico City, the country’s capital, on April 4th. Simple Plan will play at the PEPSI Centre what seems to be a co-headlining show with Papa Roach. The fans might also enjoy the opening act, which will be Emo Nite.

The second show in Puebla will take place at the Auditorio GNP Seguros on April 7th.

Pre-sale of the tickets for both of these shows starts on January 24th. Big thanks to Karen for letting us know about these dates.

PHOTO: The Vamps and Simple Plan hang out in Mexico

As we’ve already hinted on in the last article, when Simple Plan were playing in Mexico City, the British band The Vamps decided to use their night off on tour to come pay a visit to their 15th anniversary show and the bands even got to hang out later that night. From a recent video, where the members of The Vamps were seen buying SP’s debut album on vinyl we know that some of the band members have been listening to Simple Plan ever since they were 11 years old, so we’re sure this must have been very exciting for them.

A day later, The Vamps played their own show in Mexico City and so this time around it was the members of Simple Plan, who came to see their performance.

Check out the gallery for some pictures the two bands took together:

Chuck Comeau condemned Donald Trump in a speech on stage in Mexico City

Over 3500 people gathered in the Pepsi Center WTC on Monday, November 6th, to witness the second Mexican show of Simple Plan’s No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls 15th anniversary tour – in Mexico City. The show was packed with the bands long-time fans, as well as the newer ones and even some unexpected guests paid a visit to the show, such as the members of The Vamps [but more about them in the next article].

If you’ve already attended one of the shows of the 15th anniversary tour, or if you at least follow the news about them, you must already know that in between ‘One Day’ and ‘Perfect’, the band performs the song ‘Grow Up’, during which Pierre and Chuck switch their positions: Pierre becomes the drummer and Chuck takes the mic and usually has a little speech to the crowd. In Mexico City however, the speech got a little political due to the fact that Chuck decided to condemn the actions of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, who’s attitude towards Mexico has been appalling and previously criticized by many.

Thanks to Karen, we got ahold of a video of Chuck’s speech in Mexico City, which you can also read in its transcription below:

“You know, there’s been a lot of idiot people around the world talking shit about and insulting this beautiful country. And I just wanna say to Mr. fucking Donald Trump that he’s a fucking idiot! We fucking love you guys! You guys made us feel at home! Muchas gracias!”

– Chuck Comeau –

New fan-submitted pictures from tours in 2016

A number of fans from around the world recently sent SimplePlan.cz pictures from their encounters with the members of Simple Plan throughout 2016 and you can now have a look at them yourself below. There awesome pictures include pizza parties in Jakarta (Indonesia) and Bilbao (Spain), soundcheck party in Mexico City (Mexico) and also at the SMAC festival in Switzerland.

Big thanks to Daniela, Raph, Lola and Revy for sending in their photos. If you have any pictures with SP from the past as well – or perhaps some pics of SP from various events you saw them at and would like to submit them to the SP.cz gallery, e-mail me (info@simpleplan.cz)!
