Simple Plan at Good Things Festival: live collabs and ‘Wonderwall’ cover

The main reason for Simple Plan to travel all the way to Australia this December was their invitation to the Good Things Festival, where they band performed for the very first time alongside acts such as Simple Creatures, Bad Religion, The Veronicas, A Day To Remember or Parkway Drive.

This three-day festival brought all the bands to three of some of the biggest cities in Australia: Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane over the course of this past Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Fans from all over Australia and further have gathered to witness their favorite bands to play at one festival and they were in for quite a treat.

Now, let’s have a look at what Simple Plan’s set looked like, shall we? The boys decided to keep it simple and given the fact that they only had an hour, decided to play 14 of their songs with an additional cover of Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’, which was added as an extra song before the final song on the last two days of the festival (Sydney and Brisbane). Besides this surprising addition to the setlist, the boys also had one more treat up their sleeve: a special live collaboration on Jet Lag with Erin Reus from the Australian band Stateside.

Check out the full setlist below:

1. I’d Do Anything
2. Jump
3. Welcome To My Life
4. Jet Lag (feat. Erin Reus)
5. Addicted
6. Boom!
7. Can’t Keep My Hands Off You
8. Summer Paradise

10. Where I Belong
11. Shut Up!

Big recap of Simple Plan’s Australian tour

Over the past week, Simple Plan have been taking Australia by storm, playing six shows in five cities: Gold Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle and Sydney. Melbourne was the only city that got to experience Simple Plan twice during this tour as due to enormous demand, the fans managed to immediately sell out the first announced show, making Simple Plan to add a second show, which got sold out soon after. Another sold out show of this tour was Sydney.

Many fans gathered to witness this special once-in-a-lifetime 15th anniversary No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls tour and they were in for some great shows. For this tour, after Real Friends had to cancel their appearance on this tour, Simple Plan chose the Australian bands Eat Your Heart Out and Stateside as supporting acts.

Simple Plan’s setlist was very reliable as every night the band decided not to change any of their songs and delivered this classic version of their No Pads setlist:

1. I’d Do Anything
2. The Worst Day Ever
3. You Don’t Mean Anything
4. I’m Just A Kid
5. When I’m With You
6. Meet You There
7. Addicted
8. My Alien
9. God Must Hate Me
10. I Won’t Be There
11. One Day
12. Grow Up
13. Perfect

Encore:
14. Shut Up!
15. Jump
16. Boom
17. Jet Lag
18. Summer Paradise
19. Crazy
20. Welcome To My Life

There was one surprise, however, when on a couple of dates on this tour, Simple Plan invited Erin Reus, the lead singer of Stateside to join them as the female vocals in Jet Lag. This way, Erin has become another woman on the list of singers, who have over the years collaborated on this song. You can check out her appearance on stage in Melbourne below:

The guys had an amazing time in Australia and expressed many times over the past few days that they’ve had some of their favorite shows there. After the final show in Sydney, Simple Plan of course didn’t forget to take the final farewell group picture of themselves with the opening bands and the crew. Check it out below:

And finally, make sure to head over to our gallery now to check out all the albums of all the past Australian shows, which have now been updated with some new shots:

New professional footage from Australia in works: Simple Plan performed in Sydney

In the upcoming couple of days, Simple Plan have five shows in Australia on schedule, out of which four are already sold-out – with only a few dozens of tickets left for the final third show in Melbourne. Third show, you ask? Yes. The demand for the tickets in Melbourne has been so overwhelming that after the first show in Melbourne had sold-out in just minutes, the band decided to prolong their stay in Australia by adding one more show in Melbourne. And then the same thing happened with show no. 2, which is why they added the final third show. Besides Melbourne, Simple Plan will also be hitting Brisbane, which will come right after their first Australian TOFTT show in Sydney, which took place tonight. Let’s have a look at what this show had in store for the local fans!

First, just like at every other show, Simple Plan held a soundcheck party for their fanclub members and at this soundcheck party they made a dream come true to a young local boy by letting him sing ‘When I’m Gone’ on stage with the band. Our friend Brett managed to capture this awesome moment on a video along with the beginning of the soundcheck, so you can now check it out below (thanks, Brett!):

Many of the attendees, however, both of the soundcheck and of the show itself may have missed out on one very interesting thing that was happening while they had their eyes fully set on the band. The band’s set has been professionally filmed in Sydney and might very possibly be filmed on the rest of the Australians dates too. This comes from the news that has come to surface firstly thanks to Peter John‘s Instagram Stories from today and later also from his Instagram post, where he confirmed he is indeed once again filming Simple Plan live. You may recall that this Australian director was the one in charge of the wonderful footage ‘Live In Melbourne’, released on YouTube in 2013.

Now, when it came to the show, the boys performed the already established setlist once again [the version that includes ‘Kiss Me Like Nobody’s Watching’, ‘Your Love Is A Lie’ and ‘Farewell’] as you’ll be able to see below:

1. Opinion Overload
2. Jet Lag
3. Jump (‚I Gotta Feeling‘ snippet)
4. I’d Do Anything
5. Boom
6. Welcome to My Life
7. Kiss Me Like Nobody’s Watching
8. Your Love Is A Lie
9. Singing In The Rain
10. Party medley – Uptown Funk (Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars cover) & Can’t Feel My Face (The Weeknd cover)
11. Can’t Keep My Hands Off You
12. Farewell
13. Summer Paradise
14. Crazy
15. I’m Just a Kid

Encore:
16. Shut Up!
17 Perfect World
18. This Song Saved My Life (acoustic)
19. Perfect

And as always, you can already find a bunch of pictures both from the soundcheck and from the show in Sydney in the gallery – big thanks to Sara for sending them in!
