Simple Plan nominated for “Heart of Gold Award” at CBC Music Awards


Canadian national radio and TV broadcaster CBC has revealed the nominations for this year’s CBC Music Awards. And among the categories (which include nominations for awards for best song, album, live show etc.), Simple Plan have been nominated for the Heart of Gold Award, which is being awarded to an artist, who “went above and beyong the call of duty this past year and donated time, funds and talent to charitable causes.” Simple Plan are being nominated particularly for their charitable work with the Simple Plan Foundation.

The band is up against many other Canadian artists including Hedley, Arcade Fire, Lights, Neil Young or Bryan Adams.

The top five nominees with the highest number of votes in this category by the time polls close will move on to make up the short list for the Heart of Gold Award. Voting on the long list closes Monday, December 1st at 3 p.m. EST, and the short lists will be unveiled Tuesday, December 2nd. Voting on the short list closes Monday, December 8st at 3 p.m. EST. The winners of the CBC Music Awards will be announced on Tuesday, December 9th.
