“Welcome To My Life” featured in new Canadian film “Mommy”

Xavier Dolan’s new film called “Mommy”, which premiered in Canada on September 19th, features one of Simple Plan’s most prominent songs, from their second studio album Still Not Getting Any – “Welcome To My Life.” The song’s lyrics correlate with the movie’s plot, which follows the difficulties of a mother, Diane, with raising her troubled teenage son as a single parent.

While Simple Plan’s songs have so far been mostly used in comedies (such as Scooby Doo or New York Minute, see the full list here), this is the first time their song has been featured on a soundtrack to a drama film. And not just any drama film! Mommy has been received extremely well by the critics and has received the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2014. The film has also been submitted as Canada’s best film for a possible nomination for the Best Foreign Film at the 87th Academy Awards.
