Since its beginning in 2005, one of the main three goals of the Simple Plan Foundation has been a goal to encourage and promote the practice of music as a way to help young people find a passion in life, and to support music-therapy programs that help sick young kids. The band keeps going after this goal and through their foundation they recently donated $5000 to the music therapy program in Montreal’s Children Hospital.
The money donated by the Simple Plan Foundation to the music therapy program will be used to purchase new music instruments, some of which will be easier to clean and ensure there is no cross-contamination between rooms.
According to the CBC news article, Chuck Comeau from Simple Plan said: “For us music has been amazing, it’s our way to find our path in life. Whether it’s being sick or stuck in the hospital for months and months, it’s a way for them to express themselves, to feel better.”
The article by CBC news also stated that the music therapy program does indeed have a great effect on the children: it helps them stay positive, calm down, stay busy and keep their spirits high.
