Pierre suffers from vocal strain – band cancels today’s show for Take40

You may remember that last August, Pierre has been diagnosed with swollen vocal chords and the band was forced to cancel a big part of their summer Europen tour, in order to not make Pierre’s condition even worse. Luckily, Pierre soon got back on his feet and the band could continue touring again.

However, the next part of the tour has been equally tough for Pierre. Simple Plan have been on the road practically non-stop, which led to another vocal extertion.

The doctors reccommended Pierre to rest and not strain his vocal chords, resulting in the band having to cancel today’s show for Take40 in Sydney. Chuck released a statement on Twitter on behalf of his friend:

“Due to vocal strain, Pierre has been put on vocal rest by doctors’ order for the day and tonight’s Live Lounge gig had been cancelled. We’re very sorry to all our fans who were coming to see us play tonight. We encourage tix holders to still come out and hangout with us. Sebastien, David, Jeff and myself will be at The Standard starting at 6:30pm. Again, we are deeply sorry about this.”

Later in the day, Pierre himself took to Twitter and apologized for having to cancel Simple Plan’s performance at Take40:

Another tough day as a singer. I hate having to disappoint fans. My vocal cords are strained and need some rest… gotta cancel take 40. Doc says i’ll be fine. Just need to sit it out for a little bit. Shit happens when you tour as much as we do. Hope you all can forgive me. Saw a great speech pathologist today that has given me some exercises and tips to get better ASAP. I’ll keep ya posted. SP fans are the best. Vocal rest is so much more challenging than people might think. Try to spend just a half a day without saying a word! So hard!!
