What we’ve been hoping for to be only rumors has unfortunately turned out to be true. The promoters of the Prague City Festival, where Simple Plan were supposed to perform on June 29th (among other acts) – in Prague, Czech Republic – have officially confirmed today that the event is definitely canceled, due to financial reasons.
Below you can read the full official statement by the festival’s head promoter, Mr. Borek Jiřík:
In Prague, June 15th 2012: With our deepest regrets we are forced to announce that Prague City Festival will not take place due to immediate and unexpected drop of funds which we had to face and despite all attempts to save the event, we have not found any.
We deeply apologize to all the fans and artists.
Tickets bought at Tickets.de and Eventim will be refunded at the place of purchase. Returns for tickets bought via Ticketportal network will be advised within next 7 working days.
Chuck was the first from the band to react to the news right after the band landed in Darwin, Australia. Here is what he has said about it:
“Just landed in Darwin & just heard that the Prague City Festival got cancelled. So bummed. Was so stoked to play with Blink 182, AAR and LP. So sad for all our awesome Czech fans and everyone who was looking forward to this show. The situation is completely out of our hands. We don’t have any further information right now but we will keep you updated.”
Let’s just hope that Simple Plan will manage to fit a Prague date into their next European tour at the end of this year…
