Although the fans voted like crazy for the past couple days, the competition was very big this year and unfortunately, Simple Plan did not receive any of the awards they were nominated for at the Much Music Video Awards (MMVA).
In the category “UR FAVE VIDEO”, the one were the fans had the biggest say, Simple Plan were nominated with “Summer Paradise” but the trophey eventually went to Carly Rae Jepsen and her video for “Call Me Maybe”.
And the second award – for “International Video of the Year by a Canadian”, where SP got a nomination for “Astronaut”, but which was in the hands of music critics, was given to Justin Bieber and his music video for the song “Boyfriend”.

And what did SP say about their “defeat”? “Congrats to Carly Rae Jepsen for winning Fave vid of the year. A HUGE thank you to the awesome SP Astronauts who voted for us. You are the best! Awards shows are nice but there’s nothing that beats knowing that our fans support us and love our music. We’re so lucky to have you.” said Chuck.
And Sebastien added: “I’m giving out the award for best fans to all of you guys! Thanks for the support. We love you very much.”
