Simple Plan’s recently released version of their 2002 hit ‘I’m Just A Kid’ feat. LØLØ (an Amazon Original exclusive) has now also been given an official music video!
The video, released on Friday, November 11th, was filmed by Simple Plan’s photographer and videographer Anna Lee at the So What Music Fest in Texas this past May, where LØLØ joined Simple Plan on stage to sing this song with them.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of their first album ‘No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls’ (2002), Simple Plan decided to release a special new version of their first ever single ‘I’m Just A Kid’ with the Canadian singer/song-writer LØLØ.
Despite being a 20-year old hit, Simple Plan’s ‘I’m Just A Kid’ reached a brand new audience during the pandemic, when it has become a viral TikTok challenge of people all over the world retaking their childhood photos with their adult selves. The trend now has over 3.5 million videos including clips from celebrities such as Ed Sheeran, Usher, Drew Barrymore or Venus and Serena Williams.
The brand new version of ‘I’m Just A Kid’ features LØLØ singing on the second verse as well as the chorus and is available exclusively on Amazon Music.

LØLØ, born Lauren Mandel (24 years old) has stated that Simple Plan have in fact been one of her idols growing up:
“It’s not every day that one of your favorite bands of all time asks you to feature on arguably one of the most iconic songs of your generation. If you would have told 7-year-old me that one day I would be singing this song WITH SIMPLE PLAN, instead of in my basement alone, I would have probably dropped dead on the spot. Working with the guys on this version of “I’m Just a Kid” and getting to sing it with them on stage at So What Fest has definitely been one of the coolest experiences of my life. P.S. I’m still convinced this isn’t actually real and I’m being punked.””

And what has Simple Plan said about this new collaboration?
“Now more than ever, we appreciate the gift of having songs that resonate with people of all ages and backgrounds and become an important part of their lives. I’m Just A Kid has been one of these special songs for us and we’re so grateful for everyone who has listened to it and enjoyed it over the years. It has become a signature song for our band, especially after the craziness of the TikTok challenge and the billions of plays that came with it. As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the song release, we thought it would be fun to give our fans a new updated version of the song with our friend LØLØ. We always loved collaborating with young artists that keep pop-punk fresh and exciting and it’s rad to be able to use our platform to showcase their talent. This is what our scene is all about. We hope you enjoy this new version and can’t wait to see you on tour all over the world!”

Simple Plan are hoping that LØLØ (who was originally supposed to support them on their American tour with New Found Glory, which unfortunately got canceled due to COVID) will eventually get to our with them in the future.

Even though it has only been a few days since Simple Plan have left Europe, it has now been confirmed that they will be returning to the old continent again next summer for the festival season!
The Austrian Nova Rock Festival has just updated their line-up for 2023 and Simple Plan will be there on the first day (Wednesday, June 7th) alongside Slipknot, Asking Alexandria or Disturbed. This is good news because more than likely we can expect more European festivals to have them on their line-up around that time too.

Jeff Stinco as well as the popular audio engineering company Two notes recently announced a collaboration on the release of the Simple Plan lead singer’s collection of cabinet models, titled ‘The Jeff Stinco Anthology’.
For the non-musician-geeks out there, Jeff describes these as “a virtual version of [his] best physical guitar speaker enclosures.” We weren’t much wiser after that explanation, so we also reached out to Frank Joly, Simple Plan’s audio engineer (who also stood behind the creation of this collection) to explain it to us in layman’s terms. Here is his response: “It’s a cab simulator for guitar players. They put their guitar amp inside the Two notes machine and then they can simulate Jeff’s guitar cabs,” also adding that “it’s for nerds.”
The collection features seven DynIR cabinet models captured from the personal collection of Jeff Stinco, each priced at 10 € (together priced as a pack of 7 at 55 €). Jeff’s collection includes:

After 5 long years, Simple Plan have finally graced us with their presence here in the Czech Republic, when they performed alongside Sum 41 at a concert in Prague. A full report from the concert is of course to come, but we figured the first thing we really need to put out is the interview we filmed with Chuck Comeau on Simple Plan’s tourbus during the afternoon before the show in Prague.
In this interview Dominika (SimplePlan.cz) and Chuck discussed many subjects from the pandemic, becoming an independent band without a label and the behind the scenes of Simple Plan’s song-writing process.
Being over 37 minutes long, it is now SimplePlan.cz’s longest interview to date, so make sure you make time to watch it in full.
Big thank you goes to Coalition Music, Conspiracy Concerts, Danny Vance and of course Chuck Comeau for setting up this interview. Special thanks also goes to Viola for being the best camera girl.
We hope you’ll enjoy it & we can’t wait to hear your feedback in the YouTube comments:
