This summer, Simple Plan are collaborating with the brand Fruité to offer their Canadian fans a chance at a very exclusive VIP experience at one of their Canadian shows this September!
This contest, which is open to all residents of Canada, is taking place all summer long – until September 1st. Until then, the contestants’ task is to take a picture with a bottle of the Fruité juice and sent it to the promoters of the contest. If chosen, 3 winners will each receive 4 backstage passes and concert tickets to one of the shows of the upcoming Canadian tour and some more special goodies, like merch, a ride to the venue in a limousine and of course, meeting the band!
Check out Simple Plan on the bottles of Fruité this summer and make sure to take part in the contest! More info about it can be found here.

CometaMusic recently did an interview with Janick Thibault from Story Untold, who Simple Plan fans may recall as a popular singer of SP covers and who eventually started a band – originally Amasic, now Story Untold, and who’s already had countless of opening spots for Simple Plan, as well as the opportunity to song-write with Pierre and Chuck a couple years ago [we discussed this topic in the SimplePlan.cz interview with him in 2014].
In the new interview, Janick once again recalled his whole history with Simple Plan and also revealed some tips he’s gotten from the members of Simple Plan regarding song-writing. You can watch the Simple Plan part of the interview with Janick on the video below around mark 1:15 and onward or read the transcription below:
Interviewer: “Speaking of Canada… you guys have a relationship with Simple Plan. Can you just quickly go over how that developed and what the relationship is today?”
Janick: Yeah, of course. Like I’ve said before, I used to post a lot of covers on YouTube and I once did a cover of their song This Song Saved My Life. And Chuck, the drummer for Simple Plan saw it and we actually talking. He tweeted me, he tweeted about the video and stuff and we just started talking. And we eventually got the chance to open for them, write songs with them and became kind of like friends through that cover.
Interviewer: And you actually had like a song-writing session with them… What was that like, if you can describe it?
Janick: It was awesome. I mean, Green Day, Simple Plan and Sum 41 were my biggest influences as a kid, so it was just awesome to get the chance to sit down and write songs with your child idols and stuff. It was just a really great learning experience. I learned a lot just by watching them… like the way they would pick up a guitar and start writing lyrics around like four chords. It was just amazing. And they’re like really nice guys and they gave us a lot of tips about writing and how they get inspiration and stuff like that.
Interviewer: Can you share like a big tip that’s opened your eyes?
Janick: I mean, just like… don’t get stuck on that one particular line in a song. Just keep going and maybe you can come back and see if that line doesn’t work or works. You know, sometimes you’re just like questioning yourself about writing songs. So just go for it and then sit back and check it out the day after and rewrite. I think that would be the biggest tip.
