More filming at last U.S. NPNHJB show in San Diego – live DVD or Resurgence?

A month has passed and the first leg of the United States NPNHJB 15th anniversary tour has come to its end. But before we say goodbye to the recaps of the U.S. tour (before SP return there in August), let’s talk about the final one: for the last show in San Diego, California.

The show took place at the House Of Blues San Diego, which is a middle-sized venue that holds up to 1500 people and the room was packed. And not just with fans – according to some of the more observant fans, among the attendees of the show was also Arnold Lanni, the very producer of Simple Plan’s debut album – “No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls”.

After the opening acts, Seaway and Set It Off, Simple Plan hit the stage and played their first album front to back, and as always left the encore for a mix of some of their greatest hits from their other records. It was the place to be on a Tuesday night – mostly as once again Simple Plan decided to have this concert filmed as well! You may recall that a couple days ago at the show in Anaheim, CA, Simple Plan filmed their show with a professional film crew, stating it’s “for a DVD”. This time around in San Diego, some filming already started away before the show has even begun. Peter John, the Australian director, who has been co-producing the Resurgence film about the reappearance of pop-punk in the music industry with Chuck Comeau, was there, as well as Dan Coronado, who is the assistant director of this documentary. The team, alongside Chady Awad were seen filming some of the members of Simple Plan in the backstage of the HOB San Diego before the show, which is also where the following picture with Jeff comes from:

Now, the question remains: was last night’s filming in San Diego for Resurgence, given the team behind the documentary was present and filming at the event, or can we really expect some possible live DVD to commemorate the 15th anniversary NPNHJB tour? Of course, it very well could be both – with Chuck possibly using some of the footage for Resurgence, but there is another clue that makes us think the filming could be for not just a live DVD, but also some behind the scenes of this tour as well. According to May, who was present at the show, the film crew also interviewed a number of fans waiting in line before the show. The fans were asked questions such as “What Simple Plan means to you?” and “What is your favorite NPNHJB song and why?”. And that to us sounds like something that could greatly fit onto a NPNHJB 15th anniversary tour DVD.

There is currently still no release date for any of the two projects, but if Simple Plan are really planning a live DVD to celebrate the NPNHJB tour, it is fair to assume they may film at shows at other continents as well. After all, Simple Plan are bringing the tour to Europe next month, then it’s back to the U.S. in the summer and in September it’s Canada’s turn with more dates yet to be announced.

And while we continue wondering about the new DVD, let’s have a look inside the gallery, where you can already find pictures from the show in San Diego:

New photoshoots of Simple Plan from Luxembourg

Come check out some new beautiful additions to the photoshoots collection in the SimplePlan.cz gallery, taken by the photographer Caroline Quartier in Luxembourg in August 2015 and May 2016. The first album will show you some interesting portraits of Jeff, Seb, Chuck and Pierre inside the Luxembourg venue (in 2015) and in the second album you will find images from a photoshoot taken on a rooftop, where Seb and Pierre bravely posed with a guitar (in 2016).

Check them out for yourself (thx SPB.com for finding them):

Simple Plan showed what they got at San Francisco show #2

With some fans calling it “even better than the first show”, Simple Plan rocked The Fillmore venue in San Francisco, CA last night again after a day off in the city.

Simple Plan add new show in Arizona & another Seattle show after first just sold out

The tickets for the upcoming second leg of Simple Plan’s 15th anniversary No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls tour in the USA went up only a few weeks ago and the shows are already starting to sell out! In fact one of them just did – Seattle (on September 2nd) sold out its 2800 tickets the fastest of them all!

And because the band suspected this ahead, they already secured a second show in Seattle, so starting this Friday 10am local time, the local fans can score tickets for the the second show at The Neptune, which will take place on September 3rd.

Some more good news came in also for the Arizonian fans – Simple Plan just added a show in Flagstaff, AZ, on August 28th in The Orpheum Theatre, which promises to be a very intimate show for only 650 people. Tickets for this show also go up this Friday, at 10am.

Check out more info about these two new shows below or check out the whole schedule of the band’s upcoming tourdates in the Tour section.
