Montreal welcomes back Simple Plan with final show of their Canadian tour

And here it is: after shows in London, Quebec City and Toronto, Simple Plan finally headed home to Montreal yesterday to perform their last Taking One For The Team show (for a while) at the Bell Centre to their hometown crowd. And it wasn’t just the fans who they were excited to see – because it was a hometown show, many of the band members’ families came to root for their boys – including their children – and also their old friends, such as Patrick Langlois.

Due to the very heavy snowstorm, which has stunned Montreal recently, some articles report there were only about 7700 attendees, who made it to the show (while the Bell Centre can hold up to 15 000 people for concerts). But if you were in the crowd on the spot, you’d be barely able to notice as the crowd filled up the whole arena. Overall, the fans’ reactions were more than positive, with some having seen their previous Canadian shows even stated that Simple Plan definitely saved their best for last.

The setlist of the show remained the same throughout the whole Canadian tour – the only big surprise in Montreal came in the form of confetti at the end of the show, when Simple Plan bowed out with their closer ‘Perfect’:

1. Opinion Overload
2. Jet Lag [French version]
3. Jump (‚I Gotta Feeling’ snippet)
4. I’d Do Anything
5. Boom
6. Welcome to My Life
7. Addicted
8. Your Love Is A Lie
9. Perfectly Perfect
10. I Don’t Wanna Go To Bed
11. Party medley – Uptown Funk (Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars cover) & Can’t Feel My Face (The Weeknd cover)
12. Can’t Keep My Hands Off You
13. Summer Paradise
14. Farewell
15. Crazy
16. I’m Just a Kid

Encore:
17. Shut Up!
18. Perfect World
19. This Song Saved My Life (acoustic)
20. Perfect

After Montreal, Simple Plan will be heading to Florida next, where they are duo to perform at Disney World for two days before their NPNHJB “officially” starts. In the meantime, make sure to visit the gallery now for some amazing pictures from the Montreal show:

‘I Don’t Wanna Go To Bed’ certified gold in Canada

When in Toronto, Canada last night, the members of Simple Plan had the chance to catch up with their Coalition Music management team and Warner Music Canada, who awarded Simple Plan with plaques for their newest gold-certified single! In March 2017, Simple Plan’s first single from their latest album (‘Taking One For The Team’) – ‘I Don’t Wanna Go To Bed’ feat. Nelly was officially certified gold in Canada.

The gold certification by Music Canada takes in account combined sales and stream equivalents (e.g. Spotify or Apple Music) of more than 40 000 units of the single. You can have a look at all the certifications of Simple Plan’s previous releases in this section on SimplePlan.cz.

Pierre sings Crazy in the middle of the crowd in Toronto

Tuesday night in Toronto, Canada was all about the Simple Plan show in Air Canada Centre, where the band performed for thousands of their local fans.

And while there were many spectacular moments throughout the show that we’re sure fans will remember for a long time, there was one moment, which stood above any other. You can see it on some of the pictures in the gallery, but I definitely recommned you checking out the following video, in which you can see Pierre singing ‘Crazy’ to the fans from the middle of the venue, directly, while his bandmates continued playing their instruments up on the stage.

Have a look for yourself (thx Monika for the original video and SPB for putting it up):

VIDEO: ‘I Don’t Wanna Go To Bed’ live in Quebec City

At the past two shows, Simple Plan surprisingly re-added the first official single from their latest record – ‘I Don’t Wanna Go To Bed’ into their setlist.

And as this is such a rare song for SP to perform live, come have a look at the following video, captured by Felicia at the concert in Quebec City, where SP played it right before their party medley:

Members of Simple Plan visit children with special needs in Quebec

Before Simple Plan hit the stage in Quebec on Monday, they decided to visit the special class at the La Courvilloise high school in Quebec City, where they met with their local little admirers.

“Simple Plan is one of our favorite bands in the class,” said France Lebreux, teacher at La Courvilloise, who offers the students special music workshops every Friday. According to her, the idea of the band visiting the students only came to them last Friday and with the members of Simple Plan quickly agreeing on seeing the children and hanging out with them, the plan worked out very well: the children very very excited to meet their music heroes.

“Seeing all these people, who are involved with organizations like that which give so much to society, it changes us as well. We are a little less selfish because of it – and it’s so easy to become selfish with a job like ours. And on the contrary, things like this remind us how much we can make a difference,” said Jeff.
