9 years since the release of Simple Plan’s self-titled album

Today, we commemorate 9 years since the release of Simple Plan’s third album, the self-titled one. The record that is now certified platinum in Canada, was produced by Dave Fortman, and which was released on February 12th 2008.

This album was one of the hardest ones to write for the two song-writers, Pierre and Chuck, as during their song-writing period, they were dealing with some very hard personal struggles (Chuck was just slowly getting over a hard breakup, while Pierre’s older brother Jay was suffering from cancer, which affected the whole family). After a lengthy song-writer’s block, the duo finally managed to get back on the track and use their personal experience and put them into their own songs. This is how songs such as ‘Your Love Is A Lie’ and ‘Save You’ came about.

DID YOU KNOW?
  • It is the first (and only) Simple Plan album to be marked for explicit content due to the use of the F word in the song ‘Your Love Is A Lie’.
  • Originally, the album cover was supposed to look very differently – on that version, the band members were depicted standing on the ruins of a burned out city. However, the fans did not like the artwork so much that after an online voting, the band has decided to go with a simpler, black & white album cover.
  • Chuck “rappped” on the song ‘Holding On’.
  • One of the incpirations behind the song ‘What If’ was the character of Peter Petrelli from the show Heroes.
  • Besides the music videos for the official singles ‘When I’m Gone’, ‘Your Love Is A Lie’ and ‘Save You’, there is also an animated music video for the song ‘I Can Wait Forever’.

Why don’t you reminisce about this album, by re-listening to all the tracks? Who knows, maybe for the 10th anniversary next year, we will finally convince Chuck to “sing” Holding On live :)

Sebastien has recently returned from his well-deserved vacation and once he was back in town, it was time to hit up his old friend Patrick Langlois and record a new episode of their radio show Man Of The Hour show! The guys pre-taped a few days ago but finally aired last night on Idobi radio as the first episode of season 22.

But if you missed the show last night, don’t worry! You catch catch up on the rerun on Sunday at 3pm EST or download the podcast on iTunes later on.

Simple Plan plan to return to Europe for second leg of No Pads tour by the end of 2017

A quite surprising revelation came up on Chuck’s Instagram today, which will surely be very exciting for European fans!

As you know already, Simple Plan announced a 10-dates-long No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls tour in Europe yesterday. And while many fans cheered SP for bringing the tour to Europe as well as they are to the U.S., the omitting of many European countries on this tour also brought some sadness into the fandom.

Luckily, Chuck likes to listen to the fans and he immediately responded to this uproar with an edit in his latest Instagram post, in which he mentioned there is a second European leg in works for the end of the year:

“***EDIT: I’m aware that we’re not playing all the countries and cities we usually visit on our regular European tours. Please be patient… we are working on organizing another leg of the tour later this year and go see all of you. In the meantime, we hope to see you at these shows. It’s gonna be fun!”

This is definitely very good news for Europe, as the length of its No Pads tour has been way too short compared to the ever-so-growing U.S. tour in March/April.

It is also fair to mention that besides that, Simple Plan have also previously promised to bring the tour to Australia, South America, Canada and Asia by the end of the year. Let’s hope it can all fit into their schedule!
