Opening bands for NPNHJB tour Set It Off and Seaway stoked to tour with Simple Plan

Just about a week ago, Simple Plan announced the first leg of their 15th anniversary No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls tour in the United States, where Simple Plan are once again bringing not just one, but two opening bands – Set It Off and Seaway.

And it looks like our boys are in for some very good and fun touring buddies!

The guys from Set It Off, currently a four-piece pop-punk band from Florida, recently filmed a Q&A with questions submitted by their fans on Twitter. In one of the questions, answered by the band’s lead guitarist Dan Clermont, a fan asked the band about how they felt when they learned they would be touring with Simple Plan.

Check out Dan’s answer below:

Q: Were you shocked in any way to be invited to tour with [Simple Plan] or has shock just kind of moot at this point?

Dan Clermont (Set It Off): We were pretty… I wouldn’t say shocked, but it was like a surprising offer to come around. We’ve done Warped Tour with them a couple times in the past, but it’s only been like a few dates here and there, so we’ve never really had a lot of time to hang out and really get to know each other. So we were really excited that they wanted to take us out on tour. For their 15th anniversary tour. It’s pretty insane that we’re gonna be there to celebrate that with them. So we’re pretty pumped.

And we definitely can’t forget about the second opening band either – the pop-punkers Seaway from Canada – who were very witty in their reaction to the tour announcement, when they tweeted the following picture of the band members and in a reference to the title of Simple Plan’s debut album, they asked: “Yo Simple Plan, jis it cool if we bring our pads and helmets on tour?”

Simple Plan show in Chicago sold-out in one day – band adds another show!

It will come as no surprise that the demand for the recently announced special 15th anniversary No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls tour in the U.S. has been tremendous. As the first and second Simple Plan albums have made it on the U.S. market the most out of all SP albums, it was expected that once the tickets would go on sale, the fans would want to get their hands on them as soon as possible. And that is exactly what happened.

Tickets for the whole U.S. tour, which will take place in March and April, went on sale on Friday and in less than 24 hours, the tickets for the show in Chicago were already completely sold-out! The local House of Blues venue holds up to 2500 people, so this is quite a success for a sold-out show in this short amount of time.

But if you’re in the area and don’t have your Chicago tickets yet, don’t fret! Because of this awesome demand, Simple Plan decided to add a second Chicago show the next day – April 1st – and no, this is not an April fool’s joke!

The tickets are already on sale (there is currently no info on whether the second Chicago show will have a VIP as well, as the VIP tickets for the first Chicago show are still available), so you can check out all the info you need below:

FLASHBACK: How Simple Plan once got kicked out of the studio

You may have already seen Jeff post another throwback picture from around 2001 when Simple Plan were recording their debut album No Pads, No Helmets.. Just Balls. This particular picture is very unusual as you won’t be able to see the band members in the studio, but rather on a bed in a hotel room.

Jeff published the picture with the following description: “Remember that time when we got kicked out of Arnyard Studios (I actually don’t remember why) and the 6 of us stayed in a single hotel room for a few days? That was during the making of NPNHJB and if I remember well, Pierre was working on “My Christmas List”.”

And even though Jeff doesn’t remember the exact reason why he, his bandmates and Patrick all got kicked out of the studio, that doesn’t mean nobody else does! And if you’ve watched the 10th No Pads anniversary webchat 5 years ago, you’ve heard the story once too. And if you didn’t, you are about to now!

Below, you can read up on Pierre’s recollection of the events that led to SP being forced to move from their ‘luxurious’ no-window room in the studio with bunk beds into a hotel room:

“I remember this one time… Because we were sleeping in this room that was like a small room, no windows, 6 guys… 5 guys.. no, 6 – Patrick was there. And it was so disgusting, we used to sneak out and sleep in the living room. And Arnold Lanni, our producer, kinda let us stay there for free, but he said: ‘Don’t sleep in the living room!’ And we slept there anyways. And one morning he came in and we have moved the beds and he got so mad he kicked us out of the studio and we had to go to a hotel.” – Pierre Bouvier

Don’t forget that the tickets (and VIP upgrades) for the special 15th anniversary NPNHJB tour across the United States went on sale today! Check out all the links to tickets in our Tour section.
