New year’s wishes from the members of Simple Plan

With the celebrations of the end of 2016 behind us and all of 2017 in front of us, it was the perfect time for the guys from Simple Plan to look back at the past year, which was definitely a big milestone in their career, and also look into the future and what it may bring us.

Some of the members of Simple Plan took to their social media profiles to reminisce about the old year and of course wish their fans a happy new year. Let’s have a look what they had to say:

“2016 was an amazing year for me in so many ways, but it was also one of the hardest. I’m grateful for all the beautiful moments and all the joy it brought me, but also for the challenges and failures I’ve experienced. All these obstacles taught me to be stronger and more resilient and made me better and wiser. I’m excited about all the possibilities 2017 brings. The future is bright; I can’t wait to see what comes next. Happy New Year!” – Chuck Comeau

“2016 was rad, fun, happy, busy, confusing, stressful, weird and heartbreakingly sad all at the same time. It was an emotional roller coaster ride and I think we’re all ready to move on to 2017! Can’t wait to see what’s gonna happen. Thanks to all of you for following me and supporting SP. I wish you the absolute best for the New Year!” – Chuck Comeau

“I’m looking forward to many things coming in 2017: a bit of time off for myself, time with my little ones, lots of skying, more tours for Simple Plan, lots of musical projects. Last year started off on the wrong foot for me, on a personal level: I’m leaving all of it behind. I feel less stressed about 2017, I am confident that it will be a good one. I can visualize a bunch of wonderful things coming.” – Jeff Stinco

Great way to end 2016. Looking forward to a crazy 2017. Love and happiness to all of you out there. Xoxo.” – Pierre Bouvier

“Happy New Year! We wish you all the very best for 2017! Thanks for making 2016 amazing for us. Looking forward to seeing all of you on tour next year!” – Pierre, Chuck, Sebastien, Jeff and David

David performed with RESET at a festival in Rimouski

On December 30th 2016, the current formation of the band Reset was headlining the Underground Fest in Rimouski, QC, Canada. Reset were to perform mostly their old school hits from the No Worries and No Limits era. That is also precisely the era when some current members of Simple Plan were in starting out in this band (firstly Pierre and Chuck, who co-founded the band, and after Chuck’s and later on also Pierre’s departure, it was David who came to the rescue for a short time, before the then-starting-out Simple Plan snatched him to be in a band with them – see the full Reset history here).

Ahead of the start of the festival, it had been advertised that there would be a surprise waiting for the attendees of the festival and that surprise came true in a form of one of the former members of Reset rejoining them on stage – David Desrosiers from Simple Plan. This was David’s first public appearance ever since Simple Plan announced he wouldn’t be joining them on the South American tour due to personal reasons.

At the Underground fest, which was attended by about 50 people, David showed up around the time the last two bands of that night were supposed to play (including Reset) and eventually performed two songs with Reset – ‘My Dream And I’ and ‘Pollution’.

Check out some videos of David back on stage with Reset this past Friday below:

The last time we witnessed the members of Simple Plan reunite with their old bandmates from Reset was in 2014 when they performed a whole set at Amnesia Rockfest in June 2014.

VIDEO: SPB interviews Chuck and Jeff

My collegue Bruno from Simple Plan Brazil had the opportunity to interview Chuck and Jeff from Simple Plan, while the band was in Brazil a few weeks ago.

In his well-researched interview, Bruno asked the boys some very interesting questions regarding the change of the album cover of SP’s self-titled album, their thoughts about sharing their personal lives online, actual vacation plans that don’t include touring etc.

You can watch the full interview below:

Sebastien lists the most frequent misconceptions about Simple Plan

Over the past couple of months, maybe even years, Sebastien has been using the li.st app to document various lists of things for the public to see. And as it is his time off right now, Sebastien has a lot of time to wonder, which is why he created a new list yesterday.

In this list, Seb put together all the most popular misconceptions about being in a band – in Simple Plan in particular. Check out the list below and let us know which of these misconceptions were YOU guilty of yourself?

Misconceptions About Playing In A Band

Hmmmm… I had to talk to my band mates for his one. I gonna tell you what people think, and then how we feel about it or what’s actually going on.

•
Our favourite music is Simple Plan

Sometimes, we walk into restaurants or hotels and they start playing our albums. For a while… and they bring up the volume. I don’t love that. I listen to SP everyday already on stage!

•
We have a Simple Plan plane

We don’t! Wow we don’t. We fly commercial. And I’m happy when we fly enough to get status so I can upgrade to first class for free! That is only if our crew guys didn’t get the upgrade first … 😤

•
 Backstage is where it’s at

Backstage is the quiet chill area of the venue. A few snacks, a couple of guys stretching and a couple more warming up. Boring!

•
The tour bus is the coolest place ever

We make it work. I mean sure, there’s TVs, drinks and all that. But also, there’s bunk beds and we sleep there when the bus moves… when you wake up in the morning, you have to look for a 🚽 [toilet] because you can’t 💩 [poop] on the bus…

•
Our security guys take care of us

We don’t have any! There you go.

•
 We love music

Of course we do! But, if we are getting picked up and have to drive somewhere, radio off please.
