TOFTT among Rock Sound’s top releases of 2016

The popular British magazine Rock Sound revealed the first batch of their TOP 50 albums released in 2016 along with a short description/review of each of them.

Simple Plan’s ‘Taking One For The Team’ has obviously made it to the list – at #46, this is what Rock Sound had to say about the band’s fifth record:

“These pop-punk veterans proved they could still hang in 2016. Simple Plan’s first album in half a decade was full of youthful energy and naivety, and boasted guest vocalists ranging from New Found Glory to Nelly. A collection of high octane pop-rock anthems that weren’t big and were by no means clever, but damn, they were catchy.”

Simple Plan about David, new Xmas song and plans for 6th album in a new interview

A new article published on the Brazilian website Revista Mais (thanks SPBR for the info), reveals a new interview with some of the guys from Simple Plan back from their visit of Brazil earlier this month.

While you can certainly read the whole interview (with the help of Google Translate), which touches the usual subjects of the new album, the band’s setlist and return to Brazil, there are a couple of specific things from this interview, which are worth pointing out.

For one, the subject of David’s absence on the South American tour was once again obviously mentioned in this article, with a yet-unheard very nice quote from Pierre, who said: “He’s very important to us, and we’re here with his support,” letting us know once again that David will be back with SP on the next upcoming shows in the new year.

Another thing that the guys pointed out in the interview was their newly released Christmas song – Christmas Every Day. We found out that the band actually recorded the song during the recording process of ‘Taking One For The Team’, but it was officially finished this November. That let’s us know that the guys probably had some more tweeking to do before they were ready to release it as a Christmas gift for their fans.

And finally, the last question of the interview asked the guys about their plans for the future. And Sebastien’s answer surely gives us new reassurance that the band is already thinking about working on album number six: “[We want to] visit some places, do some shows next year and then start working on the next album.
