OFFICIAL: Simple Plan’s new single ‘Ruin My Life’ to feature Deryck Whibley (Sum 41)!

New music is almost here! It has just been confirmed that Simple Plan’s second single (after The Antidote) from their upcoming 6th album will be called ‘Ruin My Life’ and will be featuring none other than Deryck Whibley from the fellow Canadian band Sum 41! We’re guessing the old beef between Sum 41 and Simple Plan is over now, eh? :)

The new single will be released on February 18th on all streaming platforms – you can already pre-save the song here on your favorite platform and be notified once the song is up.

Check out the interesting artwork for “Ruin My Life”, which features a bird on fire:

How excited are you about this song and the special featuring?

Simple Plan to release new single in two weeks!

In a very short and sweet way, Simple Plan announced today on their social media that their fans might be expecting something new – assumingly new music – in just two weeks!

That’s right! The band released an artwork that features an illustration of a bird on fire with a secretive date – February 18th 2021. As expected from the past remarks from a recent interview with Pierre and Chuck, we are expecting them to drop a new single on that day.

The only official thing we know about this song so far is that Pierre mentioned in the previous interview that “it’s a special one”. In what way? We shall see in few weeks.

Are you excited?

Simple Plan confirmed to play two more dates in Mexico in April – one of them with Papa Roach!

Mexican fans can rejoice even more! After it was announced a couple months ago that Simple Plan would be performing at a festival in Monterrey, Mexico, the word has now spread from the Mexican concert info Instagram @ocesa, that Simple Plan will in fact also be playing two other headlining shows: one in Mexico City and one in Puebla.

The first show will take place in Mexico City, the country’s capital, on April 4th. Simple Plan will play at the PEPSI Centre what seems to be a co-headlining show with Papa Roach. The fans might also enjoy the opening act, which will be Emo Nite.

The second show in Puebla will take place at the Auditorio GNP Seguros on April 7th.

Pre-sale of the tickets for both of these shows starts on January 24th. Big thanks to Karen for letting us know about these dates.

Canadian Simple Plan tour with The Offspring canceled due to COVID-19 surge

Simple Plan promised to deliver an update soon on the upcoming Canadian tour with The Offspring, which was supposed to kick off in just a few weeks at the end of January – and they did so today. As some fans have already assumed, due to the recent surge of COVID-19 cases due to the rapidly spreading Omicron variant of the coronavirus, the situation wasn’t ideal for a cross-country tour to take place – for health reasons as well as logistical reasons. And therefore in a deeply apologetic statement, Simple Plan just confirmed that both Simple Plan and The Offspring have decided to cancel the entire tour. Ticket holders will be fully refunded automatically.

You can read the full statement from Simple Plan bellow:

“We are really disappointed to announce that the ‘Let The Bad Times Roll’ tour with The Offspring in Canada has to be cancelled due to the current COVID-19 surge. It’s really a bummer to have to do this, but after many discussions with the promoter and The Offspring, we all came to the conclusion that the tour just can’t happen right now, unfortunately.

We’re really sorry that we can’t play for you at the moment and be a part of this amazing tour that we were looking forward to so much. We’re already working on finding new dates when we can come back and we will update you as soon as possible.

Everyone who bought a ticket will be getting their money back and refunds will be processed automatically so keep an eye out for more info from your point of purchase.

Once again, we apologize and can’t wait to see all of you again soon.

Stay healthy and safe.”

New SP song in February & more spilled beans from Pierre & Chuck’s livestream

Our favorite song-writing duo, Pierre Bouvier and Chuck Comeau got together via Instagram live chat on Thursday, where they not only answered a bunch of fans’ questions but also spilled some amazing beans while doing so.

The main information we got from the livechat was that there is a brand new Simple Plan song coming out next month – in February. According to Pierre, “it’s a special one”.

“We’re gonna put out some new music soon. It’s coming soon. For real.. […] One way we’re adaption to this and also to the new reality on the music world and how things are going is that we’re releasing music in a different way. It’s gonna be more like song by song, maybe a little bit […] than we’ve done in the past. But I think that’s kind of cool. We’re just trying to make this work. Cause we’re not able to go out there and tour and do interviews as much and do everything. We’re trying to find new ways for people to pay attention to the songs and the album, so we’re experimenting with different ways of doing that. But the next step is a new song and that’s coming next month.”

The boys also mentioned that the new album will definitely be released on vinyl and the band is also currently looking at some other vinyl related things – according to Chuck, there should be some sort of vinyl coming up related to the 20th anniversary of Simple Plan’s first album ‘No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls’, which is coming up in March.

Check out a clip of Chuck and Pierre discussing the new song and the vinyls in the livestream below:

Chuck also revealed in the chat that the band has also already shot their album cover photoshoot and just finalized the final look of the album cover in the past few days (again by Simple Plan’s head graphic designer – Fred Jerome). The album cover concept was once again put together by Chuck and the photos were taken by their favorite band photographer Chapman Baehler (who also did the photoshoots for Still Not Getting Any or Taking One For The Team).

Another thing discussed was the upcoming Canadian tour with The Offspring, which a lot of fans have been asking about, due to all the covid restrictions that are currently being put in place in the country. It is currentl unclear whether the tour will be able to be held in a couple weeks, but the band is still looking at their options and will be publishing an update either this week or early next week.

And finally, during the livechat, Pierre also surprised Chuck by telling everyone him and his family are actually currently recovering from COVID-19. All of them are doing well. You can listen to him talking about it here:
