VIDEOS: Fans welcome Simple Plan in Brazil

As expected, ever since the four members of Simple Plan arrived to Brazil, they have been in a constant surrounding of local fans, who wanted to take a glimpse at their favorite band and maybe even score an autograph or a selfie.

Firstly, the boys were made welcome in Brazil by their fans at the airport in Sao Paulo yesterday, and a large group of fans was also seen around their hotel or a the restaurant they decided to have dinner at. Each time, the members of Simple Plan took their time to hang out with the fans, who came out to see them, as you can see from the video they filmed in front of their hotel:

Simple Plan arrive in Brazil

Pierre, Chuck, Jeff and Sebastien have officially landed in Sao Paulo today, ready to kick off their South American tour tomorrow.

The guys were pictured at the airport with Herby Moreau, Canadian journalist, who has been revealed to be accompanying them on this tour, filming their tour for the second season of his documentary series Vie de tournée.

Check out their picture together, which captures SP’s first steps back on the Brazilian soil, in the gallery:

Herby also published a video from the airport on his Instagram, which you can check out here:

David to not attend the South American tour due to personal reasons

A very sad news shocked not only the South American fans today, when Simple Plan announced that “due to personal reasons, David will unfortunately not be able to travel with [SP] and play the upcoming shows in South America.”

The rest of the announcement is as follows: “Out of respect for our friend, we will not comment further. However, we want everyone to know that we fully support David and his decision and that we are looking forward to having him come back and rock with us at our shows in 2017. On behalf of David and the band, we would like to apologize to all our South American fans who might be disappointed by this news. With David’s blessing, the shows will go on and we look forward to some amazing concerts in Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay and Peru!
See you there!”

It is currently unknown who will replace David on bass throughout the tour.

Crew’s input into their own info on SimplePlan.cz

It was a mundane afternoon in a pub in Sao Paulo yesterday, when some of the members of Simple Plan’s crew decided to make their stay in Brazil ahead of the South American Simple Plan tour more colorful and suggested that the bios in the Crew & others section on SimplePlan.cz were updated – mostly due to the addition of two new crew members – Mitch (guitar & drum tech) and Didier (light tech).

The guys from the crew sent SimplePlan.cz not only some great points about Mitch and Didier, but also about every other member of the Simple Plan tour crew. And since all of the notes were too hilarious to not share with all of you, without any further ado, check out the newly updated Crew & others section, now co-written by the crew members themselves. Hopefully, it will make you smile (cheers, boys!):

[Please note that the writing of these bios included some silliness and a few pints of beer, so keep that in mind when judging which information is 100% true and which is slightly less than true]

Tour in South America: what can we expect?

After over a month of laying low after the Canadian tour had to be rescheduled to March [read more about that here], the Taking One For The Team tour will finally bring Simple Plan to South America this week. And in the first place: Simple Plan are ready to come to Brazil again! As Sebastien has already revealed, he is flying to Brazil later tonight and similarly all the other members of Simple Plan are expected to head to South America today, while some crew members are already there, enjoying the local sights.

In Brazil the band will perform at 4 shows in total – in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro [sold-out!], Belo Horizonte and Porto Alegre. As many of you are aware, Brazil has of course one of the most enthusiastic and devoted fans in the world, so we expect this trip to be one hell of an adventure for the SP guys. Due to that, the security might be a little bit tighter than we are used to with Simple Plan and we can also see less of after-show behind-the-venue signing sessions than we are normally used to in other parts of the world. However that does not mean it will be impossible for the local fans to meet SP (besides soundcheck and pizza party) – if you recall the last time SP were in Brazil, the guys spontaneously decided to hold a signing session for the fans at their hotel, which they announced on Twitter. So surely, the guys will take the time to see their Brazilian fans this time around as well.

Besides Brazil, the boys will later also head to Argentina (sold-out!), Paraguay, Chile and Peru – playing one show in each of these countries. These shows will also be the last shows for Simple Plan in 2016.

So what can we expect from these shows?

The first thing on everyone’s mind is the setlist, of course. We’ve gotten used to the fact that Simple Plan do not like to change up their setlist a lot, so the core of it has stayed the same pretty much for the whole course of the TOFTT tour so far [check out the setlist here]. But, the guys do try to switch up usually one or two songs in between shows and sometimes add some surprises as well.

With the recent release of the music video for ‘Perfectly Perfect’ (which hit 1 million views on YouTube today!) and the overall positive reaction the song has been receiving, it is fairly certain that the band will very likely include this song on the setlist permanently (unlike the U.S. tour, where the song was performed very sporadically). A question mark is still over the newly released song ‘Christmas Every Day’ – while it would surely be cool for all the concert attendees to hear this new song live with Christmas just around the corner, it is unsure whether SP had any time to practice this song together yet and whether they want to put it into the already packed setlist. Let’s just wait and hopefully be happily surprised, eh?

Of course, with how big Simple Plan are in South America, there will be lots of media coverage of all of these shows, so we can expect lots of pictures, videos and other information from all these concerts. As always: if you’re attending any of these concerts and would like to help make the subsequent reviews of each show on SimplePlan.cz a bit richer with any input, please feel free to contact me [Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, e-mail… you know the drill :)]. I’ll be glad for any help.

Stay tuned for more info from the South American tour. It kicks off this Wednesday, December 7th in Sao Paulo, Brazil! More news coming soon.
