Chuck and Seb from Simple Plan recently filmed a rather extensive video for Alternative Press, in which they revealed 10 things their fans may not know about the band.
The 10 things the guys mentioned include stories such as not getting Punk’d by Ashton Kutcher, number of kids they have in total, number of pets they have in total, Chuck’s visit of Gene Simmons’ house, or Chuck getting punched in the face at an airport in Singapore.
Check out the video below and let us know how many of the facts you really didn’t know!
After the recent announcement of the show in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil being sold-out, another concert has just been revealed to have reached the limit of tickets sold and that is the concert in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which is to take place on December 13th. The show will be taking place in the Teatro Vorterix, which holds about 1500 spectators.
This set will be a part of the “Sing Your Heart Out” events, which will be all very special acoustic shows and will only take place in Buenos Aires and Santiago, Chile (December 13th).
Today at 7pm local time, the organizers of next year’s edition of Download festival in the United Kingdom announced the first batch of bands that will be appearing throughout the festival weekend between June 9th and June 11th and lo and behold, Simple Plan are on the list!
Simple Plan will appear at a yet unknown date at this festival, which will also feature acts such as System of a Down, Biffy Clyro, Aerosmith, AFI, Of Mice & Men, The Story So Far or Sleeping With Sirens.
This is the second announcement of Simple Plans appearance at a European festival in June 2017 – first one being the Nova Rock festival in Austria. More announcements should be coming soon.
Only a couple of weeks now seperate us from Simple Plan’s grand return to South America. During their stay there in December, the band will play in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Chile and Peru. And as Brazil is the largest of these countries, the local fans will get to see Simple Plan not once, but four times – in Porto Alegre, Sao Paolo, Belo Horizonte and Rio de Janeiro.
And good news (or bad news to some) is that the show in Rio de Janeiro on December 9th is now completely sold-out [thanks SPB for the info]. The concert is taking place at the Circo Voador venue, which holds about 2 800 people.
The remaining shows for the Brazilian part of the tour are also selling well. According to the ticket companies, the shows in Porto Alegre and Sao Paolo are also close to selling out soon.
Besides being a great drummer, Chuck Comeau from Simple Plan has always been very interested in the music business in general and as a result of that he is often the force and the mastermind behind most of Simple Plan’s endeavours. Now, he has decided to take his interest in his band’s music scene to the next level by getting involved as a producer in a new documentary film project by Epik films, which delves into the topic of the current resurgence of pop-punk.
Recent years, but especially 2016, have brought us an exceptional number of new records and a general growth of interest in the pop-punk scene. Not only by newer bands like State Champs or Neck Deep, but also by bands who have been the leaders of the original pop-punk era in the late 90s and early 00s, such as Blink 182, Green Day, Simple Plan, Yellowcard, Sum 41 or Good Charlotte. And it was exactly this matter that his band is also a part of that got Chuck interested in producing ‘Resurgence: A pop punk-umentary’.
The film is directed by Peter John, which finally answers us the question what this Australian director and his team were filming at the Simple Plan Australian and U.S. shows and why Peter John still keeps being seen alongside Chuck – such as at the recent Good Charlotte show in Los Angeles.

Epik films have also already released a trailer for this film, which is scheduled to be released in 2017 (however, it is currently unknown by which medium it will be distributed). From this trailer we can tell that besides fans, the documentary will also feature a number of interviews with people tied to the music industry, such as Story Untold (who opened for SP in the U.S.), Mike Fishkin (Idobi radio host), members of Neck Deep, Chuck Comeau of course and many more. See the trailer for “Resurgence” below:
