VIDEO: New interview with Simple Plan

Our friends over at SP:BR had the opportunity to recently interview Chuck, Pierre and Sebastien from Simple Plan at the band’s show in Acton Vale, QC. In his interview, the trio discussed many interesting things such as how they actually asked David to join the band by inviting him for dinner, Seb’s brother Jay’s involvement with I’m Just a Kid’s first demo, who came first – the song P.S. I Hate You or Pierre’s chicken called ‘Sophia’ and finally the boys also talked about not using the songs that came from the song-writing sessions with 3OH!3 or Josh Ramsay from Marianas Trench.

I definitely recommend you to check this very well done interview out:

VOTE: Which single should Simple Plan release next?

It’s been a couple months now that Simple Plan have released ‘Singing In The Rain’ as their second official single from their new album ‘Taking One For Team’ (after the first single ‘I Don’t Wanna Go To Bed’). Besides these two songs, the band has also released three buzz singles, two of which even received a music video treatment, even though these songs weren’t sent to be played on radios. These songs were ‘Boom’, ‘I Don’t Wanna Be Sad’ and ‘Opinion Overload’. That means there’s not that many choices left as to what their third oficial single from the record could be.

Now let’s put our heads together and let’s see which song the fans think would be a great third single!

Now remember – a single should be a song that could do well on a radio. That means a song that could persuade maybe even a diferent kind of audience than their fanbase consists of already. At the same time though, it should also be a song that represents the band – because the song’s style may then become the type of style the general public will then connect to the band’s name with.

Remember, this is no official poll and its results may not persuade the band to choose their next single. But it will be interesting to check out what their fans would like to see the band release next.

So which song should be the next Simple Plan single, according to you?

Bands discuss excitement about opening for Simple Plan on TOFTT tour

In just a couple of days, Simple Plan will hit the road again and embark on another part of their Taking One For The Team tour. First, they’ll hit Asia and Australia in September, October is reserved for the U.S. tour, in November they’ll return to their homeland, Canada, and finally in December, Simple Plan will fly to South America for the last part of their TOFTT tour in 2016.

On these tours, Simple Plan will be bringing in a number of opening acts – from the already very popular (All Time Low and PVRIS in Canada) to some newer and less known bands. Among the less known acts, we can name two that are already extremely excited about touring with Simple Plan in the coming months – Forever Ends Here and Story Untold.

The members of Forever Ends Here [pictured left], an Australian pop-punk band, have recently spoken to Music Injection about their upcoming tour with Simple Plan in Australia. The band members already seem smitten by Simple Plan, who they claim to be one of their favorite bands growing up and look forward to touring with them:

‘I still don’t think it’s sunk in,’ says Luke [McChesney, singer] when talking about the opportunity given to them to perform with one of his favourite bands growing up. ‘It is a dream come true and a huge opportunity for us to reach as many new fans as possible,’ adds Kane [McChesney, drummer].

Story Untold [pictured right], formerly known as AMASIC, is already known to Simple Plan fans as this Canadian band has opened for them a number of times and the members of the band have previously co-wrote a couple of songs with Chuck and Pierre from Simple Plan. Janick Thibault, the lead singer of the band, recently opened up to Alternative Press about his band’s first U.S. tour and about the excitement that accompanies them touring with Simple Plan:

‘We are also very excited about our upcoming tour with Simple Plan! It’s a pretty big deal for us because we’ve been fans since we were about 10,’ says Thibault. ‘They definitely influenced me and the rest of the band not just with their songs, but also with their perseverance and how they’re always trying to do better than what they already did in the past. We also wrote three songs with them and they’re really nice guys. Simple Plan is one of the biggest, if not the biggest band, here in Quebec, so I think it’s really cool for our band to have the chance to go on our first U.S. tour with them.’

Setlist from Sept-Îles and Acton Vale

It’s been a while since I included Simple Plan’s setlist in any of the recent recaps of the SP shows. So, as Anne-Sophie was nice enough to send us the setlist from the recent festival shows in Sept-Îles and Acton Vale that took place in August, let’s take a look at what the setlist looks nowadays:

1. Opinion Overload
2. Jet Lag
3. Jump (‚I Gotta Feeling‘ snippet)
4. I’d Do Anything
5. Boom
6. Welcome to My Life
7. Your Love Is a Lie
8. I Refuse
9. Singing In The Rain
10. Party medley – Uptown Funk (Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars cover) & Can’t Feel My Face (The Weeknd cover)
11. Can’t Keep My Hands Off You
12. Farewell
13. Summer Paradise
14. Crazy
15. I’m Just a Kid

Encore:
16. Shut Up!
17. Perfect World
18. This Song Saved My Life (acoustic)
19. Perfect

As you can see, besides a couple of special guests SP brought up on the stage in Sept-Îles, there isn’t much difference between the current setlist and the one the band used during their spring European tour.

The only remaining Canadian festival date this summer is Fair at the PNE in Vancouver this Thursday.
