In a brand new interview for MySpace, one of the newest and uprising American pop-punk bands – State Champs – discussed the current resurgence of pop-punk and in one of the questions, the band mentioned Simple Plan as one of the bands they used to look up to.
Check out an excerpt from the interview with Tyler Szalkowski (State Champs’ lead guitarist) below:
What’s it been like to see the reunion tours of so many bands from the 2000s that obviously inspired you?
I used to wake up early and turn on the TV to watch videos of bands like Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, and all of those other guys. If you had told me back then while I was eating my cereal that I would be playing with those guys one day, I would’ve called you crazy.
State Champs will be playing Warped Tour alongside Good Charlotte this summer, however a tour with Simple Plan is still not in sight despite the fact that the members of Simple Plan have previously mentioned that State Champs are one of their favorite up-and-coming bands and that they too enjoy their music very much. But who knows what the future might bring. :)
With the second leg of the European tour also comes some brand new merch items! So if you’re heading to any of the upcoming Simple Plan shows in Europe, besides some of the designs you already know, here you can have a look at some of the newest additions which you’ll be able to buy at SP’s merch booth:
Which t-shirt will YOU be getting?
There will also be plenty of the first leg items available – some of which you can also already purchase through Simple Plan’s official merchstore
