Simple Plan to tease more TOFTT songs this week & more info!

If you’re subscribed to the Simple Plan newsletter you may have already received a very informative e-mail that sums up everything that Simple Plan are planning for this week. Now if you don’t wanna bother reading through it, Simple Plan most importantly teased that they filmed the track-by-track videos (videos in which they talk about each of the tracks on the album, explain the meanings of each song and or discuss its writing/recording process). Besides that they have apparently also filmed an idobi radio special. Regarding this week, the band promised in the e-mail they would be premiering the new song “Opinion Overload” this week, along with some teasers of other new songs and other surprises.

It surely is going to be a one hell-of-a week!

If you want to read through the whole e-mail you might have missed, here you go:

Hey guys,

It’s Pierre, Chuck, Sébastien, Jeff and David here! Hope you’re all doing well! There’s so much stuff happening right now in Simple Plan’s world, it’s kinda insane and even we have trouble keeping up with all the news and updates!

Here’s a little recap of what we’ve been up to! We spent last week rehearsing in Montreal for our upcoming European tour that kicks off Feb. 24th in Spain and we also filmed a brand new video for the 1st song off our new album Taking One For The Team, coming on February 19th. It’s for a song called “Opinion Overload” and we can’t wait for you to see it! It was an amazing shoot and we’re pretty sure you guys will enjoy the throwback vibes of the video! We also signed hundreds of posters and CD booklets for the pre-order bundles and other contests and I think our hands are still cramping… lol. We also filmed some track-by-track videos, tons of interviews, an idobi radio special and tons more cool stuff that will be coming out soon.

It’s slowly sinking in that we’re now less than 20 days away from the release of TOFTT, so we’re all pretty damn excited right now. This week, we will be premiering some new music, teasing the new songs and showing you some of the album artwork so if you’re curious about the album, keep checking our @simpleplan Instagram, Twitter, FB and simpleplan.com for tons of cool surprises this week!

We can’t wait to see you all on tour and to hear what you think about the new music!

Simple Plan to release ANOTHER video in the next few weeks

While either this or next week we should finally get a look at the new music video for “Opinion Overload”, which is Simple Plan’s second single, according to a new interview with Jeff, that might not be all that the boys have for us video-wise!

In an interview for the Spanish server Histéricas Garbaciones, Jeff was asked about their upcoming important events and besides the European tour, Jeff also said:

“We are releasing two new videos in the next few weeks: one is a “nostalgia/throwback” video with a super energetic live performance. The other video, will be quite a surprise for our fans! ” – Jeff Stinco

As you can guess, it is certain that in the first part of the quote, Jeff talks about the music video for “Opinion Overload”, which is known to feature a live performance of the band along with a sneak peek at various memorabilia. But in the second part, he mentions that there is another video we can look forward to. Is it a music video? Is it something else? We’re gonna have to wait and see what the next few weeks are going to bring. But as Jeff said, it will definitely be a big surprise.

Simple Plan referenced in a parody pop-punk medley “All The Old Things”

The fictitious YouTube band “Sunrise Skater Kids” created by YouTube comedian Jarrod Alonge, who you may remember from the popular “Every Pop Punk Vocalist” video recently posted a brand new song, which serves as a parody on all old pop-punk bands by using a tiny bit tweaked lyrics and music of popular old-school pop-punk acts such as blink-182, The All-American Rejects, Sum 41, Paramore and of course Simple Plan.

The Simple Plan spoof starts at mark 0:39 with the lyrics “I’m getting old and life is a nightmare, I’m getting old, I just found my first gray hair. Nobody cares cause all the kids in today’s pop(-punk scene were born after 19…19…1999)”, which is a funny and clever reference to “I’m Just a Kid” and Bowling For Soup’s “1985”.

Length of “Opinion Overload” revealed & more info

iTunes has recently updated their store’s page regarding Simple Plan’s new album “Taking One For The Team” and gave us another tiny little clue about the upcoming new single. The length of Simple Plan’s first track on the album, “Opinion Overload”, for which the band shot a music video last Monday (and which is expected to come out either this or next week) will be 3 minutes and 19 seconds. So far that makes it the longest track on the album (that we know of).

But that’s not all we know about “Opinion Overload”! Pierre and Chuck wrote this song along with the song “Nostalgic” with the song-writer Nate Campany, who is one of the very few song-writers from the long list of those Simple Plan have worked with on this album, who’s efforts actually made it to the album.

WHO IS NATE CAMPANY?

Nathaniel Campany, is an American pop song-writer and indie musician, who currently resides in Los Angeles. Besides his interest in Scandinavian pop music (he’s written for the finalists of both the Norwegian and Swedish Idol), he has also worked with a large number of international artists such as Christina Aguilera, The Backstreet Boys, Carly Rae Jepsen, Adam Lambert, Owl City and The Summer Set.

Are you excited to hear “Opinion Overload” soon?

Bonus tracks for the Japanese edition of TOFTT revealed

It was just yesterday that we discussed the possibility of special regional editions of “Taking One For The Team” to have some bonus songs and now we are getting the first clue on this matter!

According to Warner Music Japan, the Japanese edition of the new Simple Plan album will be featuring two additional bonus songs (thanks Luigi for finding out). Now, before you get excited – they are not new songs. Besides 14 regular tracks that you will find on every version of the album, the Japanese edition will include two live versions: of Summer Paradise and I’d Do Anything. It is currently unknown where these live versions were recorded.

Will you be getting yourself some of these special editions besides a regular one?
