Simple Plan related Christmas songs through the years: your ultimate holiday SP playlist

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, they say. The time when all the brawls, fights and disagreements should be put aside and people should come together and enjoy the magical atmosphere that Christmas brings, alongside their loved ones.

Now, I’m sure you’d agree with me that there is no Christmas without some great Christmas-themed music. And if you’re already sick of all the classics, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered! It’s no secret that pop-punk bands often like to release their own special Christmas songs and over the years Simple Plan were no exception in that rule. And since there’s already so many Christmas Simple Plan songs out there – either actually created by SP or featuring one of their band members – we thought the time has come to put them all together and create a playlist of these wonderful holiday-themed tracks that you (and perhaps even your family) can enjoy in the coming days!

Let’s all make some good hot cocoa, turn the Christmas lights on and enjoy some good maybe somewhat alternative Christmas music. Let us know which one is your favorite!

Simple Plan – My Christmas List (2002)

We cannot start the history of Simple Plan related Christmas songs without ‘My Christmas List’, as we probably all recall rocking out to this track in our childhood bedrooms shouting “I want a lifetime supply of Skittles and slurpees and Eskimo Pies” from the top of our lungs. The song appeared as a bonus song on Simple Plans debut album ‘No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls’ back in 2002 and ever since has become a classic in the Simple Plan fans’ Christmas playlists.

Sébastien Lefebvre & Katie Rox – Stay (It’s Christmas) (2010)

It then took whole 8 more years until a member of Simple Plan decided to step into the waters of Xmas music again. Back in 2010, Sébastien and his friend, musician Katie Rox released an EP together, titled ‘Christmas Etc.’ featuring three songs, including a very sweet Christmas one called ‘Stay (It’s Christmas)’:

Montreal Artists – Please Come Home For Christmas (cover) – feat. Seb Lefebvre (2014)

This cover by The Eagles was created by a number of Montreal artists back in 2014 and Sebastien as one of the most promiment Montreal musicians also contributed to this song with his own guitar skills. Check him out strumming the guitar and listen to this beautiful track below:

Alex Gaskarth, Pierre Bouvier, Ashton Irwin, Joel Madden and John Feldmann – Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (2015)

This very special track brought together some of the best of pop-punk back in 2015. The vocalists of All Time Low, Simple Plan, 5 Seconds of Summer, Good Charlotte and Goldfinger joined their vocals for a special cover of the classic song ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ for a good cause, supporting the Ryan Seacrest Foundation. Try putting this track on during Christmas Eve. Surely they will enjoy at least the first half of it… you know… before the best part begins:

Simple Plan – Christmas Every Day (2016)

14 years after the release of their very first Christmas song, Simple Plan finally dropped a new holiday track two years ago – ‘Christmas Every Day’ which immediately jumped to the top 30 of most popular songs on iTunes charts all over the world in December 2016. Alongside the cool new track you can now also enjoy a brand new sweatshirt inspired by the visuals of this song, which is available at Simple Plan’s merch store. Remind yourselves of Christmas Every Day here:

MxPx – December feat. Pierre Bouvier (2018)

And finally the latest addition to the ever-growing SP holiday tracklist is a song released just a few weeks ago by MXPX. On their Christmas track ‘December’, the punk rockers invited their old friend Pierre Bouvier from Simple Plan to come and sing alongside Emily Whitehurst. This one is once again for the less mellow and more punk-rocky Christmas occasions:

Watch Pierre record his vocals for new song ‘Bigger’ for the soundtrack to Racetime

As we reported back in November, the release of the soundtrack to the animated movie ‘Racetime’ (‘La Course des Tuques’) revealed that Simple Plan would be contributing to it with a new song called ‘Bigger’, written by Fred St-Gelais.

This is the second time Simple Plan are tied to this particular movie franchise, as they have previously released a track called ‘Heroes’, which was featured on the prequel to this movie, entitled ‘Snowtime’ (‘La Guerre des Tuques’).

And just like it was with Heroes, with Bigger we also get to see the making of this song through a newly released video, which documents Pierre laying down his vocals for this track in his own home studio in California.

Peter John releases the remainder of his behind the scenes videos from Warped Tour with Simple Plan

Those of you who’ve been following the news about Simple Plan here on SimplePlan.cz over the summer, know that their old friend, Australian filmmaker Peter John joined the SP guys on Warped Tour last year to document this very special punk rock summer.

Besides filming some serious live videos of the band for some future releases, Pete also kept us updated about the behind-the-scenes of Warped Tour via his own short vlogs from each day of the tour. Towards the end of the tour however, Pete’s busy schedule didn’t allow him to upload as often as he would’ve liked, so the final eight videos never saw the light of the day. A few months later, Pete finally found some time to go back and edit the final backstage footage from Warped and only a couple days ago he published all of the remaining videos on his YouTube channel.

So if you wanna have a look at what other shenanigans the guys were up to on Warped Tour, see them rocking out to Don Broco every day, look at the behind the scenes of filming Weekend at Broco’s and much much more, dedicate just a few minutes of your time today to checking out these fun little insights into what it’s like to be on tour with Simple Plan:

Sebastien gives back at Christmas and joins the charitable Guignolee du Dr. Julien

For a number of years now, often around mid-December, the Dr. Julien Foundation hosts a number of festivities around Montreal called Guignolee du Dr. Julien, in which local people and their kids can get involved and try a number of activities while also supporting the cause by donating money to the Foundation. The Dr. Julien Foundation’s main goal is to help all children develop to their full potential by helping children in vulnerable conditions get access to social pediatrics care.

And since Simple Plan often work alongside the Dr. Julien Foundation and support them through their own Simple Plan Foudnation, as often as their time allows, the members of the band like to get involved in the Guignolee du Dr. Julien and help spread awareness of this social issue. This year, the Guignolee du Dr. Julien took place in Montreal this Saturday and once again Sebastien was a part of it. And thanks to all the attendees of this year’s event, the total of $1 000 642 was raised to help children in need!

Pierre and Chuck currently song-writing for new album with Travis Clark (We The Kings)!

One his Instagram Stories, the lead singer of the American band We The Kings – Travis Clark, revealed last night that for the past few days, he’s been writing songs with Chuck and Pierre from Simple Plan in Chuck’s home studio.

Travis Clark has of course been a fan of Simple Plan for a long time and ever since 2011 We The Kings and Simple Plan have become friends since they have supported Simple Plan on one of their U.S. tours, later on also in Europe and Australia and recently reunited on Warped Tour over the summer, where Travis even joined Simple Plan on stage during Grow Up.

After Fil Thorpe-Evans (former member of Neck Deep), this is the second popular musician to be revealed to be writing songs for Simple Plan’s new album.

In the three short videos published on his Instagram Stories, Travis Clark humorously teased the new song he’s just written with Pierre and Chuck. Check it out below:
