Bits & pieces: round-up of July interviews

With the release of the upcoming fifth Simple Plan album, the amount of interviews the band members are giving out is slowly starting to grow. However, due to the fact that they still can’t give out all the details about the album, most of the interviews tend to receive similar answers for their question.

That is why I decided not to post about these interviews that don’t give out brand new important information separately, but to keep the reports about those interviews for a round-up at the end of the month (or the beginning of the next one), in order to point out just the bits and pieces of information that may be interesting to fans but are not vital.

Welcome to the first edition of “Bits & pieces”:

Bits & pieces: July 2015
Alternative Press

Alternative Press very recently published a brand new interview with the members of Simple Plan and Mike Herrera (MXPX) from after their perfromance at the APMAS in July. In this interview, the band discussed the co-writers on their upcoming album (e.g. Mark Hoppus, Alex Gaskarth, 3OH!3) but also revealed that even though they worked with a huge number of song-writers, eventually they decided that 3/4 of the record will be songs written only by Pierre & Chuck and just the 1/4 may be co-writter with someone else.

Another interesting interview that poped up recently was the one Jeff and Sebastien did last week for mat.tv. This interview, which gave us a number of gorgeous pictures of the two Simple Plan guitarists, showed us a cute little insight into the personal lives of the band members, which isn’t usually discussed otherwise.

See an English translation of a quote from this interview below:

mat.tv: Some of you have families, but you also travel a lot, how do you balance work and family?
Jeff: One day at a time!
Seb: I think this is the right approach, one day at a time. For me, it is all new, so we’ll see. For sure now with FaceTime, Skype and all that, it makes things a lot easier. I can see my people at home. Jeff often walks with his phone and checks on how his family is doing. I try to see my little baby. Right now, she is more concerned with eating the phone than actually looking at me, but I can imagine that eventually she will recognize me and she’ll stop trying to eat me.

Star2.com

Chuck’s dedication to his band was once again proven in the interview for Star2.com, which he gave only 6 hours after his son London was born (after 49 hours in the hospital). In the interview Chuck mentioned that he’d like the birth of his son to inspire a brand new track on Simple Plan’s new album and that if he could dedicate one Simple Plan song to his son, it would be “Boom”.

Warped Tour interviews

And lastly, I can’t forget a couple of new interviews from Warped Tour. In the ClevelandRock‘s interview, Chuck and Pierre discussed what it was like to perform at the APMAS and what it’s like being back on Warped Tour – this time as one of the oldest bands there. Similar answers were given also in the interview Chuck did for Jackie Cular. Both interviews mentioned also the current state of the upcoming album: the guys are currently finishing up the mixes but also writing some more songs, which they may throw on the album on the last minute. The band hopes to release the album this fall, or early next year.
