New Simple Plan album to be co-produced by Pierre Bouvier, Brian Howes and JVP

For the past few weeks, the guys from Simple Plan have been working hard in their studio in Los Angeles, recording some final tracks for their upcoming 6th album. According to the most recent reports, it seems that both Jeff and Sebastien have already finished their parts and are already back home in Canada, enjoying some time with their families before returning back on tour with Simple Plan in the UK in just a few weeks.

The rest of the band however still seems to be hard at work in California, putting some finishing touches on their new record. But the most important piece of news, that was revealed yesterday, is that the yet-untitled new Simple Plan album will actually be co-produced by three individuals: Simple Plan’s own Pierre Bouvier, record producer Brian Howes and mixing engineer Jason ‘JVP’ Van Poederooyen [see the full photo of them together].

Besides Pierre, both names might actually sound familiar to you already. Let’s have a look at them, shall we?

Who is Brian Howes?

Brian Howes is a Canadian producer and song-writer, who’s won two Juno Awards for his past work with various musicians. You may recognize his name from Simple Plan’s 4th studio album ‘Get Your Heart On!’ which he was the main producer of. Besides Simple Plan, he’s also previously worked with acts such as Hedley, Boys Like Girls, Faber Drive or Nickelback.

Who is JVP?

Jason ‘JVP Van Poederooyen is a name often associated with Brian Howes. JVP has worked with Brian for many years now as a mixer and recording engineer. As far as his connection to Simple Plan goes, he’s worked for instance on ‘Summer Paradise’ as an engineer, digital editor and programmer. He is also listed as an engineer on ‘Jet Lag’. Both times he’s worked with Simple Plan while they were working with Brian Howes.

Simple Plan tease new album with a special new “song” from the studio

Simple Plan are currently in the studio in California, where they are busy finishing up their sixth studio album by recording the last few remaining songs. Little is known about this album – so far, the band has been rather silent about what direction they might be taking and hasn’t even given us their usual studio update.

That is until today. While in the studio this week, the boys decided to finally treat their fans with a little update on their studio life as well as teasing what the album will be like and all that in a form of a… new song? You could say that. And we wouldn’t object. Watch the video below and you’ll see for yourself. And if you want to sing along, we’re adding the lyrics under the video:

I bet you’d like to know
What’s going on in the studio
But you’re gonna have to wait
There’s one thing I can say
I can say…

… This is gonna be the best record ever
And you’re gonna love every song
This is gonna be the best record ever
And soon you’ll be singing along

Give us some time
Just a minute
I’m telling you
You won’t regret it
Cause this is gonna be
Yeah, this is gonna be…

… the best record ever
The best record ever

Simple Plan return to the studio to record final songs for 6th album

Starting this weekend, the members of Simple Plan are back in Los Angeles, CA, where they started recording their upcoming 6th studio album last summer, and which is where they are now continuing to finish the job with a couple more studio sessions. The plan is to finish the last 4 songs before the entire album is officially complete – and all that by the beginning of February, when they’re heading back on tour.

Jeff already shared his excitement over being back to business on Instagram by announcing that all Seb’s parts have now been finished. Check out what he wrote:

“We’re back in the studio to complete album 6. Sebastien finished his parts already and he killed it. He sounds soooo good! I’m up next. I’m already thinking about how to annoy the guys with wall to wall shreddy guitars all over the tracks… In all seriousness, these are some very good songs and I’m proud to be working on them. Can’t wait to share…”

Simple Plan to record last 4 songs for new album in January

Simple Plan’s studio efforts are slowly heading to the finish line! After spending a number of weeks in the recording studio in Los Angeles in the summer, where they recorded most of the songs for their upcoming 6th album, the band is now ready to finish a number of last songs in the upcoming weeks.

According to Jeff’s recent post on Instagram, Simple Plan will be returning to the recording studio in January, where they are planning to record 4 more songs, making the album complete by the end of January.

As of right now, there is still no word on the official release date of this yet-untitled 6th album, but from the recent interviews with the bands, the band members seem to be estimating to release it around spring 2020.

Since Simple Plan are no longer under a major record label, we cannot wait to see which direction they will be heading and whether they will sign under a new label or just release the new album on their own. Keep following SimplePlan.cz news and you won’t miss an new details about album #6.

Behind the scenes look at the filming of the music video for ‘Where I Belong’ feat. State Champs and We The Kings!

It was just a matter of time: three bands who had already got together previously to create a song together then head out on a joint tour. What better time than that to film a music video for said song!

Indeed – while on their U.S. tour, the members of Simple Plan, State Champs and We The Kings decided to make use of the fact that all of them were together at one spot and decided to film a music video for their song ‘Where I Belong’ at the House of Blues in Las Vegas, NV, where they were to perform yesterday.

Thanks to some of the band members’ active social media presence, we’ve been able to get ahold of a few looks at the behind the scenes of the filming of this music video, which will be featuring scenes of the members of all three bands together as well as shots of just the lead singers – Pierre, Derek and Travis… and their lightsabers?

Check out some of the pictures from the filming here in our gallery and below we put together a bunch of Instagram Stories you might have missed from the filming as well:

Charles Trippy, We The Kings’ bassist also featured some bits from the filming of this music video in his most recent vlog. Check out the time 3:12 – 4:05:

Update (22/11): Derek DiScanio from State Champs now also published a video from the filming of his part in this music video. Check it out here:
