David plays drums during Marianas Trench’s set in Shawinigan, Canada

As you probably all know by now, David Desrosiers is a huge fan of drums. It might even be his favourite instrument to play! That’s why we’ve already seen him behind the drums for example on many The New Cities’ concerts in Canada (during “Looks Minus Substance”).

This time around, on the last show of Simple Plan’s Canadian tour – in Shawinigan – the boys from Marianas Trench invited David to play drums during their set – particularly during the song “All To Myself”. From what Janie has told us, David learned the song in only 2 hours before performing it live.

That’s pretty remarkable!

Also, thanks to Janie you can now check out pictures from this special occasion in the gallery and also a video below:

All Time Low’s Zack Merrick plays bass on I’d Do Anything in Halifax, Canada

On their recent concert in Halifax, Canada, Zack Merrick, the bassist of All Time Low, joined Simple Plan on stage in the middle of I’d Do Anything, got his hands on David Desrosiers’ bass and played the rest of the song, while David had a chance to freely crowdsurf and sing his heart out.

Mind you, that was not the first time that a member of All Time Low “crashed” a Simple Plan show: the lead singer Alex Gaskarth can be found singing his parts on Freaking Me Out on the current Canadian tour and guitarist Jack Barakat likes to dress in red spandex and show his moves on stage during Simple Plan’s party medley.

On the left side of this post you can check out a picture of David and Zack hugging on stage – this and more pictures from Halifax can be found in the gallery.

And make sure to check out the whole performance of I’d Do Anything that features mr. Merrick in the video below:

David’s clue to the secret SP project

For the past few weeks, the guys from Simple Plan have been giving away little hints here and there to what the secret project they are working on is, but they still haven’t given us any exact details.

From the last webchat we know that it should be some sort of a new secret collaboration, and that it will have something to do with their new single, which is Summer Paradise.

Another clue that the guys gave away – or at least according to David – was during the interview for The Sonic Nation when at mark 10:35, David says:

“Someone’s joining the SP club!”

According to David, the interviewer didn’t get the clue. I’d have a couple of ideas… but how about you? :)

I definitely recommend for you to check out the whole interview with The Sonic Nation:

New photos from NRJ Music Awards 2012

In the gallery you can now find plenty of new photographs from the red carpet and also from the backstage of the NRJ Music Awards 2012, that took place in Cannes, France, and where Simple Plan (represented by Pierre and David), along with Marie-Mai won their first NRJ award ever – for the Frankophone duet of the year:

Simple Plan wins NRJ Music Award for frankophone duo of the year!

At tonight’s annual NRJ Awards in Cannes, France, Simple Plan and Marie-Mai won in the category “Francophone duo/band of the year” for their collaboration on the French version of the song Jet Lag that is featured on Simple Plan’s latest album “Get Your Heart On!”! On behalf of the whole band, Pierre, David and Marie-Mai accepted the award. Immediately after the win, Pierre tweeted: “We won!!!! SP fans you’re the best. Love you so much!” Below you can check out the first pictures of Pierre and David posing alongside Marie-Mai with their brand new NRJ Music Award:

It is important to add that Simple Plan have only been nominated to an NRJ Music Award once before – in 2007 – but only the 2012’s award is their first official win.
