New photos from the “Get Your Heart On!” photoshoot released!

I’m sure you all still remember the awesomeness that was the photoshoot for the album cover of Simple Plan last studio record – “Get Your Heart On!”. In this photoshoot, which was taken by Chapman Baehler in 2011, the boys immitated 4 famous old bands and groups – such as The Ramones, RUN DMC, The Beach Boys and Wham!

Besides the pictures that you’re all familiar with, the guys took a lot more and now thanks to CSP you can check out a couple more never seen before shots from the “Get Your Heart On!” photoshoot in the gallery! Enjoy:

AUDIO: Can’t Keep My Hands Off You – version without Rivers Cuomo

Big thanks to Alessandro, who came across this video, you can now check out below another version of “Can’t Keep My Hands Off You”, song featured on Simple Plan’s latest studio album “Get Your Heart On” (2011) – but this time around not featuring Rivers Cuomo from Weezer, but with Pierre singing Rivers’ parts as well. Here it is:

2 years since the release of Get Your Heart On!

Today we are commemorating the 2nd anniversary of the release of Simple Plan’s latest studio record – Get Your Heart On! This record, more commonly reffered to among fans as “GYHO” was released on June 21st 2011 as a follow-up to the band’s self-titled album (released 2008). The standart edition of this album includes 11 tracks. Various other versions then include bonus tracks such as the French version of Jet Lag (feat. Marie-Mai), the Sean Paul version of Summer Paradise or the bonus song Never Should’ve Let You Go that was recorded during the process of the making of the band’s third album.

With this album the band decided to go “back to their roots” – not only with the music but also with the whole fun side of the band – expressing that on the photoshoot featured in the CD booklet, where the band can be seen immitating the looks of other well-known bands from the past including Wham!, The Ramones, RUN DMC and The Beach Boys. The looks were also used as a marketing strategy to promote the album when Simple Plan appeared in their Plan! (Wham!) outfits and a pink limo at the red carpet of 2011’s MuchMusic Video Awards just a couple days before the album dropped.

The first song released from Get Your Heart On! in full-length was Can’t Keep My Hands Off You (feat. Rivers Cuomo) and despite not being marked as an actual single, a music video for it has been created to support the movie “Prom” that the song was featured in. In the course of a week Simple Plan recorded this music video and also two more videos (for Jet Lag and Astronaut) that have been released a couple months later making them the 1st and 2nd single of GYHO. Summer Paradise then became the 3rd single and also one of Simple Plan’s biggest hits in their career. After the release of the K’Naan version (that appears on the album) in Australia and the positive reaction it has gotten the band proceeded to release it again – this time worldwide. But due to a conflict with K’Naan’s label (because his own new single was about to come out), Simple Plan were forced to find an alternative – another singer/rapper to collaborate on a brand new version of this song. This is how Sean Paul came into the picture making the song even more successful all over the world. The follow-up versions of this song featured the acts of Taka (ONE OK ROCK) and MKTO. The final single from Get Your Heart On! was the final song on the record – entitled This Song Saved My Life, written thanks to thousands of fans’ tweets about how much of an impact has music had on their lives.

Simple Plan to release a Japanese version of Summer Paradise – feat. Taka from ONE OK ROCK

You may remember that almost a month ago, I informed you about the possibility of some new Simple Plan tracks coming our way since Simple Plan would be releasing a new special Japanese edition of their latest album “Get Your Heart On!”. The rumors were indeed true and already on March 27th, this new version of “Get Your Heart On!” will be released – with a little surprise!

Back in February, when Pierre and Chuck were in the recording studios LA, they met up with Taka – a vocalist in the Japanese rock band ONE OK ROCK, to record a special new version of their latest single – Summer Paradise (see the original picture of Pierre, Chuck and Taka in the gallery). The single feat. Taka will be released already next week – on March 20th according to Warner Music Japan (March 19th according to Chuck) – have a look at the revamped cover of this single here.

This is Simple Plan’s third studio version of Summer Paradise that features another male vocalist – after the original version with K’Naan and the most recognised version – with Sean Paul. Simple Plan will meet ONE OK ROCK again at the PunkSpring festival in Japan, where both bands are scheduled to perform.

Below you can check out the full tracklist of the Japanese edition of “Get Your Heart On!” that also includes some other bonus tracks – like the “naked” version of Astronaut (released previously on the Summer Paradise single) and a couple of live versions of GYHO songs.

Simple Plan working on a special surprise for Japanese fans

As of the last couple of weeks, Pierre and Chuck have been stuck at the Chalice Recording Studios and most recently at Atlantic Records Studios in Los Angeles writing and recording new songs for the upcoming EP that should be released by the end of this year.

But according to the latest tweet from Chuck, apart from the EP, the guys have been also working on a special project for the Japanese fans. Chuck didn’t add any more information on this, but if we put two and two together, we might be able to figure it out on our own.

My colleagues over at SPB.com recently came across news that Simple Plan will be releasing a special Get Your Heart On! (Tour Edition) version of their latest album in Japan. The release date is set for March 27th 2013.

This is not the first time a “tour edition” of some of their records have been released only for a specific market. A couple years ago, their second album “Still Not Getting Any” was also available in a tour edition, offering the fans new acoustic tracks and also never-seen-before footage on a DVD.

And since the guys are currently in the studio working on this project, we can assume that the Get Your Heart On! (Tour Edition) might even include either some new versions of the songs that we already know or even some extra unreleased songs.
