Backstage at Reading and Leeds

Simple Plan spent the past two days on their first ever visit of the Reading and Leeds festivals in the United Kingdom, where they gave the crowd some amazingly energetic performances. And while you’ve already seen some live shots from Reading and we’re still waiting for some new images from Leeds, below you can check out some pictures from the backstage of there two British festivals – in Reading for example, Chuck, Pierre and Sebastien were supposed to draw what Reading means to them and in Leeds, the band mostly celebrated David’s birthday:

But besides pictures, the first interview from SP’s stay in the UK is finally up! Check out this one from Kerrang, in which Chuck and Seb talk about what it’s like to finally be at Reading and what they think music means to the local people:

From Amsterdam, the guys headed to the United Kingdom on Thursday, where they were to play the Reading festival for the first time yesterday. Before their show, the guys also held a little meet&greet and an autograph session. Pictures from both the autograph session and the concert itself can now be found in the gallery:

REVIEW + PHOTOS: Amsterdam, Netherlands

Simple Plan left from Antwerp in the night and got to Amsterdam a few hours later. The fans started lining up around Paradiso around mid-day and around 4pm some of them were let in for the soundcheck.

Since Paradiso used to be a church, the interior featured incredible stained glass on the windows and two sets of balconies on top of each other, which were underlit by gorgeous strings of light bulbs.

The sold-out show itself started later that evening, once again with The Overslept as the opening act. Simple Plan’s show started half an hour after The Overslept finished their set and the setlist was the same as in Antwerp:

Setlist: Amsterdam, Netherlands (26/08/2015)

1. Jet Lag
2. Can’t Keep My Hands Off You
3. Jump / I Gotta Feeling
4. Welcome to My Life
5. The Rest of Us
6. Your Love Is a Lie
7. Astronaut
8. You Suck at Love
9. Boom
10. When I’m Gone
11. Shut Up
12. Crazy
13. Loser of the Year
14. I’d Do Anything

Encore:
15. Summer Paradise
16. I’m Just a Kid
17. Perfect

You can check out some of my pictures from the soundcheck and the show itself in the gallery (along with pics from DuchScene.nl):

INTERESTING SCOOPS FROM THE SHOW:
– Pierre’s family (wife Lachelle and daughters Lennon and Soren) were present at the show and watched the first part of it from the balcony
– during Summer Paradise, Pierre’s daughters helped kick the inflated beach balls into the crowd with the help of Pierre and his bandmates (see the gallery for pictures)
– it might have been the first time David and Pierre actually publicly shared a kiss on the lips live on stage

To me personally, this might have been the best Simple Plan show I have ever attended: the band was fantastic and so was the amazing crowd. And finally, you can check out some of the forementioned interesting scoops on the two videos below:

REVIEW + PHOTOS: Antwerp, Belgium

Since I’m back from my two little stops at the Simple Plan tour, with my first-hand experience I have prepared a little bit more up-close review of them, than I usually post about when the boys play a show somewhere.

Simple Plan arrived to the rainy Antwerp, Belgium on Monday, the day before the show and had a couple hours to go through the city and enjoy some sights, which most of them took advantage of. On the day of the show, the boys headed to the venue a couple hours before the soundcheck (that started at 4pm). The open-air amphitheater venue, Openluchttheater, was located in a beautiful park/forest called Rivierenhof in Antwerp which created a gorgeous and romantic atmosphere.

As usual, the SP soundheck was attended also by a number of fans, whom the boys played their new song “Boom” among other songs, and then mixed with the crowd and took pictures and hung out with their fans. At around 7pm I had my interview scheduled with Simple Plan [watch it here!], which took place backstage. In the gallery, you can check out some of my pictures from the soundcheck and the meet&greet (also, thanks to Paula, Laura and Jenna for their pic with Chuck) and also my picture from the interview later that evening:

The opening band The Overslept kicked off the night with their set around 8:30pm that night and played a couple of their songs, including a “Year 3000” cover, for about half an hour. After their show, the stage was slowly getting ready for the headlining act. Simple Plan hit the stage slightly after 9:30 and played their regular setlist that consisted of the following 17 songs:

Setlist: Antwerp, Belgium (25/08/2015)

1. Jet Lag
2. Can’t Keep My Hands Off You
3. Jump / I Gotta Feeling
4. Welcome to My Life
5. The Rest of Us
6. Your Love Is a Lie
7. Astronaut
8. You Suck at Love
9. Boom
10. When I’m Gone
11. Shut Up
12. Crazy
13. Loser of the Year
14. I’d Do Anything

Encore:
15. Summer Paradise
16. I’m Just a Kid
17. Perfect

INTERESTING SCOOPS FROM THE SHOW:
– during the show, Pierre let one fan, who’s eyes couldn’t take the brightness of the stage lights, watch the show from sidestage
– at one point of the show, when David usually goes up to Jeff to play bass next to him with their backs to each other, Jeff forgot and moved from his usual spot, which left David (and the crowd) confused and laughing
– it started raining right during the show, which made the “Perfect” at the end even more special

And finally, the SimplePlan.cz gallery is now filled with many new pictures from the show in Antwerp. Go check them out!
