New sneak peaks of Sebastien’s video for “My Dear”

As you already know from the last post, this summer, Sebastien will be releasing his third EP (more information about all his individual projects can be found here) called “More Sake Por Favor”. The first single from this EP (that consists of 7 songs) will be called “My Dear” and Sebastien also plans to release a music video for it, created by one of his fans – Jacob Drake.

Today, Seb posted on his Tumble another two sneak peaks from his upcoming music video, which (according to Seb) is coming out “really soon”:

New Sebastien’s EP’s name revealed: More Sake Por Favor

Apart from performing with Simple Plan, Sebastien Lefebvre has been busy in the past couple of years with also producing his own music. In 2009 he released his very first EP – “You Are Here / Vous Etes Ici”, followed by the second one in 2011 (only in a digital form), entitled: “Les Robots” and in the meantime also releasing a 2010 Christmas EP with Katie Rox called “Christmas Etc.”.

For months now, Sebastien has been working on some new music, and today he finally updated his official website SebastienLefebvre.ca, which now runs via Tumblr (you can also follow him on this social network under “officialsebastienlefebvre”), by publishing a post entitled “Coming Soon”, which also included the following four images and revealing in the “About” section more information about his next EP called “More Sake Por Favor”.

Sébastien Lefebvre (31) is a Québécois musician best known as the rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist for the rock band Simple Plan. Sébastien released his debut solo album “You Are Here” on October 2oth, 2009, “Les Robots” followed as a free download on his website in January 2011, and will be releasing “More Sake Por Favor” later this summer via Coalition Records.

Sébastien was inspired to create his first solo EP purely by his love of writing and recording music and that inspiration is alive and well on his latest effort. Sébastien’s solo efforts could not sound more different from his previous work with Simple Plan. Gone are the soaring pop/rock anthems, replaced by delicate melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Recording the first EP was not a decision that Sébastien took lightly. He began writing his own songs almost as soon as he joined Simple Plan, but it wasn’t until the last few years that he felt compelled to put them on tape. Each time the band would have a break in their schedule, Sébastien would spend that time working on his own music.

”More Sake Por Favor” will be introduced to eager fans via its first single, “My Dear” and its accompanying video. The video was conceived when Sébastien tweeted a message to his 107,000 twitter followers looking for a fan that was skilled in animation. Sébastien has always strived to stay as interactive as possible with his fans, and this was just one more way to engage his audience and bring the connection he has with his fans to life. After receiving about a dozen responses from the tweet, Sébastien chose Jacob Drake to bring his vision to fruition. Sébastien’s commitment and love for his fans continuously sets him apart from other musicians – he maintains a deep connection with his audience.

As with “You Are Here” and “Les Robots”, “More Sake Por Favor” was written, recorded and produced by Sébastien himself. This seven track EP is a departure from Sébastien’s punk rock roots and showcases his folksy, laid back side. “Writing and recording music is how I like to spend my time off,” says Lefebvre. “It’s pretty intense to get back from touring and playing shows everyday, only to lock myself up in my studio to work on more music”.

When it came time to record new material, Sébastien again made the decision to record an EP rather than an album. “I felt like an EP was a good way to get the music out there. With seven songs, it’s just enough to get the vibe of the record and it also gives me the freedom to put out more songs that I’ve written sooner rather than later.”

Freedom was the same reason why Sébastien chose to release the album via indie label Coalition Entertainment Records rather than a major label. “Having done the major label thing with Simple Plan, I wanted to experience something smaller that feels like a family where people are as passionate about the project as I am.”

Having recorded the EP in his personal home studio “Man of the Hour Studio” (the same studio where he creates his similarly named online radio show with friend Patrick Langlois), Sébastien had the freedom to work on each song until he was 100% happy. His efforts were not in vain.

Sébastien has also teamed up with Katie Rox for a Christmas EP called “Christmas ETC” in 2010. They had collaborated on the song “Catch Me” off of “Les Robots” and decided to repeat the experience in the holiday spirit.

”More Sake Por Favor” will be released on Coalition Entertainment Records later this summer via iTunes and the Coalition Records TopSpin store.

So are you looking forward to Seb’s new music?

Photos from meet & greet at VOLT festival in Hungary

On June 28th, Simple Plan performed for the first time ever in Hungary, at the local VOLT festival. And as always, the guys also made some time for their fans and apart from meeting most of them outside, some of them got to meet SP on a special meet&greet. Thanks to SP.hu you can now check out in the gallery a couple pictures from this event:

Also, the gallery now includes (thanks to CSP) a really high quality version of a photo from Simple Plan’s photoshoot from 2004, which we’ve only known so far in its smaller version:

Simple Plan’s “naked photoshoot” for Centraide without the campaign’s tags

I bet you all remember that one lovely day in September 2011, when the website almost crashed after all of you trying to get a glimpse of the guys’ new “naked photoshoot” that Simple Plan (along with other Canadian personalities) made as a part of the Centraide campaign, in order to “show that human beings are all the same: they are all beautiful, but also vulnerable, regardless of age, origin or social status”.

The first version of the photoshoot was only available with the campaign’s tags, but now you can check out the picture without them… in all its glory.

Please, don’t faint :)

Pierre with other artists backstage at Canada Day

While at Canada Day yesterday, the members of Simple Plan got to meet a couple of other Canadian artists who also performed at the event. In the gallery you can now check out pictures from the backstage of Canada Day, which feature Pierre with Jully Black, an R&B singer who sang the national anthem at Canada Day and then with Genevieve Borne, the presenter at Canada Day and the Canadian pop singer Roch Voisine:
