Photos from the show in Penticton, Canada

Along with All Time Low, Marianas Trench and These Kids Wear Crowns, Simple Plan kicked off their Canadian tour yesterday in the city of Penticton. According to the info I got from a few fans, Simple Plan included their new party medley, which apparently includes not only the cover of Maroon 5’s Moves Like Jagger but also apparently Sexy And I Know It by LMFAO and at least one more cover. Unfortunately so far no videos from the show have been uploaded on YouTube.

Anyhow, what I CAN actually show you are the first photos from last night in Penticton. The first link will get you to a couple more photos from the soundcheck to the show, where the high-school choir practised their This Song Saved My Life performance and the second link leads to photos directly from the show. And as you can see, Simple Plan sure did work on the background decorating lights and presented a whole new concert experience for SP fans :)

High-school choirs sing This Song Saved My Life during Simple Plan’s concert in Penticton

You love music, you’re a part of your school’s choir and your big dream is to one day be able to sing with your favourite musician – I am sure this must be a reality for many fans, who are lucky enough to have a bit of a musical talent. For some very lucky students from Penticton, Canada, the forementioned dream has come true last night. The students from the Penticton and Princess Margaret high-schools have merged to create one unique choir and got a chance to sing on Simple Plan’s concert in Penticton as the background choir in This Song Saved My Life. Originally, Simple Plan wanted the two shcools to compete for this opportunity, but the community center South Okagan Events Center persuaded them to have 10 students from each high-school in the final choir.

In the gallery you can already find a couple of photos from the soundcheck that the choir attended along with Simple Plan in Penticton yesterday.

And below you can check out a news report by CHBC News, which captures the students practicing for the big Simple Plan show in Penticton a few weeks before and also their reactions to the fact they will be actually singing with Simple Plan on stage:

Chuck talks Simple Plan Foundation in the new issue of Alternative Press

Simple Plan do not only help people with their songs, but for 6 years now they have helped various organizations and thousands of people by establishing the Simple Plan Foudation, which helps to raise funds to support charitable organisations who’s goal is to help mainly troubled young people.

In the February issue of the Alternative Press magazine, (thanks SPB for the scan) you can find a whole article written by Chuck Comeau himself about the Simple Plan Foundation and what exactly it means to the members of Simple Plan, how it’s been established and what it has achieved in the past 6 years. I definitely recommend reading it. You can find the whole article here.

Huge update of Simple Plan album covers in the gallery

I’ve decided to comply with the wishes of a few fans who asked me to add scans of some rare Simple Plan’s singles, so I scanned from my personal collection a number of albums (with many alternate covers), DVDs, live albums, singles, vinyls and audio cassettes and you can now check them all out in SimplePlan.cz’s gallery:

Sebastien attends triathlon in support of the Sainte-Justine Hospital

The Canadian Sainte-Justine hospital hosted their 6th annual beneficial triathlon today. According to the server Branchez Vous more than 80 teams attended the event, competing in skating, running and skiing in the Masionneueve Park in Montreal, Canada from 1pm. The latests news say that the event raised $526 637 – and all the raised money will go to support the Sainte-Justine hospital.

Many local personalities attended the event – some of them participating in the triathlon, some as observers only. One of the personalities who came to support this cause was no-one other than our own Sebastien Lefebvre from Simple Plan as the band has been supporting this hospital through their Simple Plan Foundation for many years now.

The whole event was hosted by the actress Julie Du Page, who took a picture with Sebastien earlier today and you can check out it’s full version in SimplePlan.cz’s gallery.
