Just as we’ve revealed through the translation of the recent interview with Chuck, where he first spilled the beans on this upcoming news, Simple Plan finally decided to release all their albums on vinyl! And not only will fans now be able to get their hands on individual Simple Plan albums on vinyl, the band also put together an exclusive box set filled with their entire discography on vinyl as well as selected b-sides.

This limited edition signed 8-piece box set (which will only be printed in 1500 copies) includes the band’s six studio albums, each pressed on color vinyl: No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls (2002) on red marble vinyl, Still Not Getting Any (2004) on dark blue marble vinyl, Simple Plan (2008) on pink marble vinyl, Get Your Heart On! You’ll be able to purchase them in two different color variants. You can choose from albums pressed on a solid color vinyl or the starburst variants. As of right now we do not know the difference between the prices of these variants.

Chuck spills the beans on the band’s 25th anniversary vinyls, European tour in 2025, new documentary and new music

In a brand new interview with @SimplePlan_Fr, which took place in Lyon, in July, Chuck Comeau discussed multiple important questions that have been rising on the fans’ mind in the past few months: When will the band go back to the studio? Will they stop touring for a few years during that process like they usually do? What else do they have in store for us?

Thanks to our lovely fan Johanna (thank you!), we received a translation of this French interview and can now share with you some interesting facts that have been revealed in it. Let’s see!

25th anniversary of the band
Given the fact that Simple Plan started in 1999, it means that this year, in 2024, we are celebrating 25 years since the band’s formation. According to Chuck, there are big plans in works for this anniversary, mostly regarding a special release of all of their albums (including b-sides) on vinyl. This information can now be supported by the recently released this new reel by Simple Plan, where they hinted on some special new vinyl releases. Check out what Chuck stated about their 25th anniversary plans:

“We have lots of beautiful things that are coming for the end of the year and for 2025. It’s going to be the 25th anniversary of the band and the 20th of our second album. So we have nice projects to come, and some of them are going to be announced in the next weeks or months. We are also planning some nice occasions to celebrate everything.

[…] We are going to release everything in vinyl with different colors, and plan a package with unseen things that we have done. It’s going to be cool for old fans and for collectors. We are going to release some limited things that can only be found in the package.”

Back in Europe next year & new music?
Firstly, it has already been 2 years since the release of Simple Plan’s 6th studio album, Harder Than It Looks, which has been recorded pre-covid. At the same time, however, it has always felt like a very long time for fans when the band took 2 years off to prepare a new album. This, however, might be changing this time around!

The band agrees that they can’t just disappear for so long, so their goal is to find some balance between touring and making new music. Besides that, Chuck has also revealed that there are (yet undefined) plans to return to Europe in 2025.

“We hope to be back in Europe in 2025, we don’t know yet where, how, with who… but we really want to play shows and tour. We don’t necessarily want to stop for 2–3 years while making a new record.

[…] We are going to try to find a new balance between new songs, album and tour. Maybe we are going to try to do like 1 new song or a few new songs that are going to be released from time to time rather than a full album. We haven’t decided yet, and we are trying to find the best option for us and for the fans.

We are also thinking about what we are capable of releasing. It’s demanding for us to produce an album. We are taking our time because we don’t want to do something less good than what we did before. We want to release something of good quality.”

New documentary
Another topic of the interview was the documentary Simple Plan have been trying to put together in the past few months. They have recently asked Brazilian filmmaker Lucas Allegretto to join them on tour and to capture some of the moments. It is believed that he might be the one behind the making of this documentary.

Chuck has shared some more information about what this film should be about and that we should expect it to reveal what it is like to be on tour with them as well as tell the history of the band.

“[The documentary] is about the band’s career from the beginning to where we are now. The crew started to film in January on the European tour, then in Brazil and in Australia. They are also going to be there in the USA and Canada this summer.

It’s going to be about what it is like to be on tour with us. It will feature interviews with different people and artists, we are digging out some old stuff… A little bit like the book but in a form of a movie. We are really excited about this and we can’t wait to release it.”

As of right now, there are no concrete dates of release of any of these new planned projects. However it seems like the vinyls might be the first on the list to be revealed. Let us know if the comments what you think of all these projects and which one you are looking forward to the most!

Simple Plan heading to the studio this week!

After returning from a long tour across South America and then Australia, one would think the guys from Simple Plan would take a short break, but the opposite seems to be the truth. In a surprising announcement on their Instagram on Tuesday, Simple Plan have revealed to their fans that they are in fact in a recording studio this week “for a very special and exciting project”.

Unfortunately, the band can’t reveal yet what this is about. We can definitely rule out a new album, as we know the guys haven’t have time to sit down to a proper writing session yet, but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t be working on a new song or two, which could be used in a movie soundtrack or a TV show.

What are your guesses? Let us know in the comments below!

Simple Plan to release a new song as a title song to season 2 of the TV contest ‘The Fashion Hero’

‘The Fashion Hero’ is a TV contest, which first started in 2017 as a competition between unconventional models to see who will be the next face for a renowned brand’s advertising campaign. According to its executive producer and president, Caroline Bernier, “[The Fashion Hero’s] mission is to change the unhealthy and unrealistic standards of the fashion and beauty industry by bringing people who do not fit the traditional norms of the industry and giving them a chance to be selected by our international brands to model in one of their advertising campaigns.”

Season 2, which will be hosted by The Backstreet Boys’ AJ McLean, is set to air in January 2022 and will be filmed in South Africa, where the final contestants, chosen from hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world, will compete in various disciplines and aim to win the competition.

In a brand new interview with Caroline Bernier, Pierre Bouvier has revealed that Simple Plan will in fact have a brand new song featured on the show as the title song and the band will also have a special Simple Plan challenge placed within the show.

We’re gonna be premiering a new song, an exciting song, which I can’t tell its title just yet but a song that I think fits perfectly with the message behind The Fashion Hero. […]

It’s a song about overcoming all obstacles and becoming something great and start believing yourself. And sort of trying to beat all the odds. And this is exactly what I think The Fashion Hero is all about.”

– Pierre Bouvier [in an interview for ‘The Fashion Hero’] –

According to Caroline Bernier, “the name of the song is what the contestants will hopefully hope for”, making us wonder what the actual title could possibly be. Any guesses?

Caroline also mentioned that this Sunday, the show is filming some promo with Chuck Comeau at his house.

As far as the release of the full song – it has not been confirmed whether the song will premiere prior to the release of the show or with its release, which is currently set to January 2022.

Watch Beckett’s new video for the song “Weirdo” originally written for SP by Pierre & Chuck

Over a year ago, just in the middle of the pandemic, Pierre Bouvier started working with a talented young singer Beckett McDowell, the son of the actor Malcolm McDowell (Clockwork Orange), who happened to be Pierre’s neighbour.

Pierre produced a full album of songs for Beckett, often co-written by both Pierre and Chuck from Simple Plan. The first song of the album – “Weirdo” came out this month and Beckett recently revealed a little bit more about how his collaboration with Pierre came about and mentioned that the song was in fact originally written as a pop-punk Simple Plan song.

“Weirdo came to be because I’m neighbor with my buddy Pierre Bouvier from Simple Plan and my little brother Finn McDowell golfs with him sometimes and he was like: “Hey, you should check out my brother’s new album!” Cause I’ve written and done an album previously that I’ve never released it. Pierre’s like “Okay, cool!” So he listened to it and he was like “Yeah, that sounds awesome.” So he’s like “Hey, I got this song ‘Weirdo’ for you.” It was a Simple Plan song and it was written by him and Chuck, the drummer, and Nick Bailey, their buddy. And I was like “Oh, this is a great song!” It was very pop-punky and I changed it to kind of a pop song. I mean, we did together, obviously. But like he made it, he changed it from major to minor, and I wrote the bridge and like before you knew it, we were in love! No, before we knew it, we had a cool song in our hands and that’s how Weirdo came to be.”

Only yesterday the music video for Beckett’s “Weirdo”, which also features a small cameo by Pierre, was released. Check it out below:
