Jeff revealed plans for two new restaurants

On May 31st 2013, Jeff Stinco from Simple Plan was one of the 1000 attendees of the famous Apéritif à la française event in Montreal, that celebrates the French cuisine. And while he’s been teasing some of his upcoming restaurant projects on Twitter in the past few months, according to Journal de Montreal he revealed at this event that he would in fact be opening two new dining establishments this fall – one in Petite-Bourgogne and one in Outremont – both parts of Montreal, Canada. These two new projects will add up to the two already thriving establishments that Jeff’s involved in – Mangiafoco and Edgar Hyperlodge [read more about them here].

Simple Plan to be featured on a tribute album in memory of Tony Sly

Yesterday (July 31st), to mark the one-year anniversary of the death of Tony Sly, the lead singer of No Use For A Name, Fat Wreck Chords released more information about their plans on releasing a tribute album to the late singer.

The tribute, entitled: “The Songs of Tony Sly: A Tribute”, will be released on October 29th on CD, LP and digitally and will be featuring renditions of various Tony Sly’s songs by contemporary punk-rock and pop-punk bands that wanted to be involved in this project. The bands will include the acts of Bad Religion, Lagwagon, Rise Against, NOFX, Pennywise, Anti-Flag, Simple Plan and many more. The full list of the bands featured on this tribute album can be seen here.

All proceeds will go to Tony Sly Memorial Fund, which serves to benefit his two daughters.

MKTO filming a music video with Pierre and Chuck!

Back in April, the news got out that Pierre and Chuck have been co-writing some songs with Malcolm Kelley and Tony Oller from the newly formed band MKTO.

MKTO has recently gained a lot of recognition because of their lead single “Thank You” (not to mention that both of the members of the band are also actors – most notably Malcolm who played Walt on LOST).

On May 15th Pierre and Chuck reported that they were currently on a beach somewhere in California, filming a “little something something”. Well, turns out that the little something something is a new music video for MKTO which the boys from Simple Plan should be a part of. That also means that at least Pierre might be singing on the song (and who knows, Chuck did some pretty dope rapping on Holding On – and since MKTO rap on their songs too, there’s always a chance of that happening – although probably just a very little one).

The boys from MKTO posted the following picture from the videoshoot where you can see some familiar faces including Pierre, Tony, Malcolm and even Mark Staubach, who directed some of Simple Plan’s latest music videos:

Simple Plan to release new stuff soon

Yesterday evening, the lead singer of Simple Plan, Pierre Bouvier, appeared on Twitter after a long time to thank his fans for the number of birthday wishes he has received that day, congratulation him on his 34th birthday (May 9th). In his tweets Pierre apologized for not tweeting much, as he wanted to focus on his private life for some time, and teased the fans by saying that “[Simple Plan are] getting ready to release new stuff soon.”

And even though we already know that the guys like to say soon quite often, this time around, soon might be even sooner than per usual – according to the interview that I conducted with Chuck a couple months ago, Simple Plan have already started working on some new music and would like to release a couple of songs (5-6) on an EP by the end of 2013. This EP should then serve as a bridge between Get Your Heart On! and the upcoming Simple Plan record that the guys should hopefully start working on next year. And since that’s getting closer and closer every day and SP still have a lot to work on when it comes to the EP, we might soon be expecting some updates on the recording session, name of the EP, perhaps even the tracklist.

Simple Plan to release a Japanese version of Summer Paradise – feat. Taka from ONE OK ROCK

You may remember that almost a month ago, I informed you about the possibility of some new Simple Plan tracks coming our way since Simple Plan would be releasing a new special Japanese edition of their latest album “Get Your Heart On!”. The rumors were indeed true and already on March 27th, this new version of “Get Your Heart On!” will be released – with a little surprise!

Back in February, when Pierre and Chuck were in the recording studios LA, they met up with Taka – a vocalist in the Japanese rock band ONE OK ROCK, to record a special new version of their latest single – Summer Paradise (see the original picture of Pierre, Chuck and Taka in the gallery). The single feat. Taka will be released already next week – on March 20th according to Warner Music Japan (March 19th according to Chuck) – have a look at the revamped cover of this single here.
