EXCLUSIVE: Bowling For Soup teased upcoming UK tour with Simple Plan next year on stage at Reading Festival

As of right now, Simple Plan’s main concern is to finish recording their 6th album in the studio, then head out on the co-headlining tour with State Champs in the U.S. and then at the end of the year or at the beginning of 2020 release the new record. But what will happen after? Obviously we can expect a tour after that. But where, when… and with who? And while none of these information have been officially confirmed by Simple Plan, we might actually already know answer to all three of these questions.

According to two of our separate sources, at their last night’s show at Reading Festival in the United Kingdom, Bowling For Soup, the legendary American pop-punk band announced to the crowd that they would in fact be coming back there to tour with Simple Plan in February.

Of course this statement brings us a lot of other questions: who will be headlining this tour? In the UK, it seems that Bowling For Soup tour rather constantly, in venues for 5000 people, which is not really the case for Simple Plan. This also ties with another question – will this possible tour be a UK tour or a full-on European one? Since given Bowling For Soup’s severe lack of touring in mainland Europe over the past decade, Simple Plan seems like a more possible headliner over here.

All that’s left for us is wait and see for Simple Plan and/or Bowling For Soup to officially announce this tour.

Would you be excited to see these two acts tour together again? And in Europe of all places? Let us know in the comments below!

UPDATE (August 27th)

According to some more unofficial information, this tour should be a Bowling For Soup headlining UK tour with Simple Plan and Not Ur Girlfriendz as opening acts and should be officially announced next week.

Jeff, Seb and Pierre’s brother Jay discuss new album & charitable Strangers In The Night event on Global News

Yesterday morning, August 15th, Sebastien Lefebvre, Jeff Stinco and Pierre’s brother Jay Bouvier appeared together in a segment on Global News Morning Montreal show in order to discuss their involvement in the upcoming Strangers In The Night event, where they will perform next Saturday, August 24th in Pierrefonds, Canada.

Jay Bouvier, a lymphoma cancer survivor (also the reason behind the song ‘Save You’), has been an active speaker about surviving and overcoming his illness for years now, often working hand in hand with Lymphoma Canada, which is one of the benefiting charities of this charitable gala alongside the Simple Plan Foundation and Friends for Mental Health.

Besides their charitable activities, Jeff and Seb also hinted on the fact that they are currently in the studio working on the 6th Simple Plan record, which (according to Seb) should be coming out “soon” and the fans should first hear some new music hopefully either by the end of 2019 or in the very beginning of 2020.

Check out Jeff, Seb and Jay discuss this event and their new album on the video below:

Simple Plan and State Champs announce a fall U.S. co-headlining tour with We The Kings as support

Yes, you’re reading right: in a highly surprising move, Simple Plan and State Champs announced they would be heading out on a co-headlining tour in the United States this coming fall. This news comes right after Simple Plan hit the studio to begin the recording process of their 6th album. As of right now it is unclear when exactly new Simple Plan album would be released, however given the announcement of the tour with State Champs, it’s safe to say that there is a high possibility that it will serve as a promo tour before the album’s out and the fans might just hear some new songs live on this tour!

Besides Simple Plan and State Champs, the fans attending this U.S. tour will be also able to catch Simple Plan’s old friends We The Kings as the support act on this tour. The tour will begin in October in Virginia and will take the three bands all over the U.S. to states like Maryland, New York, Massachusetts, Michigan, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Illinois, Texas, Arizona, Nevada and California throughout all of November.

We will be adding all the dates into our tour section soon, so keep your eyes open.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, 10am local time – for pre-sale (on Tuesday, 12pm EST), head to sp.soundrink.com a use the code SPSC2019.

Chuck joined ice-hockey stars on ice before Simple Plan’s performance at Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron

Simple Plan’s presence at the Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron charitable celebrity ice-hockey match that takes place every year in August and that aims to raise funds for various charitable organizations, including the Simple Plan Foundation, has already become a tradition. And just like last year, the band was once again happy to perform at this charitable event, and Simple Plan’s drummer Chuck Comeau even got to put his skates on and join the eventually winning team composed of many NHL players in the ice-hockey match. Overall this year’s event raised $450 000 in total.

Per Simple Plan’s request, this year’s concert was not held in the middle of the ice-rink (far away from the audience), but in order to give the fans a more intimate experience, the band decided to perform in the lobby of Centre Vidéotron in Quebec City. Many fans appreciated this change, since it has given them a much better concert experience to see the band perform from up-close.

Thanks to our reader Audrey, we got ahold of the setlist of Simple Plan’s performance yesterday, which you can now check out here:

1. I’d Do Anything
2. Jet Lag
3. Welcome To My Life
4. Shut Up
5. I’m Just A Kid
6. Addicted
7. Crazy
8. Perfect

And finally, once again big thanks to Audrey for being our eyes and ears at the event yesterday – here’s a number of pictures she took of Chuck at the game as well as during the Simple Plan show later on:

Simple Plan rock the final date of Warped Tour in Mountain View

After 25 years, the legendary alternative festival tour Warped Tour has closed its gates one last time this past weekend, after the final 2-day date in Mountain View, CA, where tens of acts from all across the music scene have gathered to say their goodbye to the Warped stages. Amongst the bands and artists that were there for the final date were besides Simple Plan also acts like The Offspring, We The Kings, Bad Religion, Good Charlotte, Less Than Jake, NOFX, Sum 41 or The All-American Rejects.

Once the 25th-anniversary Warped shows have been announced, it was clear that Simple Plan could not miss out on this opportunity to be part of these special shows, since they have become one of the most often added bands on the Warped bill over the past 25 years. Leaving Warped Tour behind has of course been very emotional and many of the band members had some words to say on their social media as they were saying their goodbyes to this one-of-a-kind experience:

Thanks Kevin Lyman and Vans Warped Tour for 25 years of rad. Warped gave our band a home and place to grow and has definitely played a huge part in our career. Yesterday in Mountain View was 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻.

– Pierre Bouvier –

Mountain View you were beautiful I mean look at ya! Thanks for such a great time and thanks to @vanswarpedtour for having us one last time. Warped tour will always have a special place in my heart ever since I was very young.

– David Desrosiers –

Amazing crowd for the final warped tour yesterday. Thanks for all the good times, thanks for all the music, and thanks for all the fans that came out [over] the years to support live music and their favourite bands. 🤟🏻

– Seb Lefebvre –

Warped Tour was insane! Thank you to Kevin Lyman for building such an amazing festival where very different people (from all around the world I might add) could get together to share their love for music. We grew up with Warped and we grew as band on that tour. I have so many memories.

– Jeff Stinco –

And if you’d like to check out what the final date of Warped Tour looked like, check out the following video documenting day 1 of the Warped weekend in Mountain View, CA, which also featured a couple of shots from Simple Plan’s meet&greet as well as their live show:

And it wouldn’t be a complete concert post if we also didn’t add some pictures from the final Simple Plan Warped show. Plenty of them are now available for your viewing pleasure in our gallery:
