Simple Plan performed ‘Untitled’ at Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron ice-hockey match & more exclusive info from the event

Centre Vidéotron, the second largest ice-hockey arena in Quebec, held a very special event last night: the 10th edition of the Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron charitable ice-hockey match that attracted around 10 000 spectators. The event offered amateur players to get the unique opportunity to help support the cause as well as get to play a game with and against some of the best Canadian ice-hockey players from the NHL. Thanks to all those involved, the event eventually raised $428 000 that will benefits multiple organizations that are helping children in the Quebec City region, including the Simple Plan Foundation.

The match began around 7pm yesterday with the two competing teams on the opposite sides of the rink: Sharks vs Bruins. An avid ice-hockey fan and player himself, Simple Plan’s own Chuck Comeau joined the Sharks team for the game with #26 on his back as one of the amateurs and donated $3000 to the cause to be a part of this special occasion. The match eventually resulted in Chuck’s team’s victory (24:23 after shootouts) and even though Chuck did not score, he did get an assist for one goal for the Sharks.

Since Simple Plan were scheduled to perform as a special guest after the game was over, Chuck could not stay for the whole duration of the match and a few minutes before its end, he was replaced by Chady Awad, Simple Plan’s photographer. Check out some of the pictures of Chuck rocking the skates at Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron in our gallery (big thanks to our reader Audrey who attended the event for all the insights and some of the photos!) and also more pictures of the rest of Simple Plan at the event:

For the Simple Plan part of the event, the band surprised all the attendees of their 45-minute set by including one of the rarest songs to be found on their setlist lately – the epic ballad ‘Untitled (How Could This Happen To Me?)’. Check it out:

And on the video below, you can have a look at some of the highlights from the whole Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron event, published on Centre Vidéotron’s and Simple Plan’s Instagram Stories:

Janick Thibault, Cody Carson & Elton Castee joined Simple Plan for I’m Just A Kid in Orlando

On the second-to-last ever Warped Tour in Orlando, FL, Simple Plan brought another bunch of guys to perform I’m Just A Kid with the on stage, as a special surprise to the crowd that came to see them. This time around, Simple Plan welcomed on stage their old friends Janick Thibault from Story Untold, Cody Carson from Set It Off and the third personality to jump on the stage was Viner and YouTuber Elton Castee, who was later seen completely fangirling about this special opportunity on Twitter.

Check out a short clip of Janick, Cody and Elton singing I’m Just A Kid on stage with Simple Plan, while Pierre took over the drums and Chuck went crowdsurfing last night in Orlando:

Cassadee Pope joined Simple Plan on stage for ‘I’m Just A Kid’ in Atlanta

At last night’s Simple Plan show on Warped Tour in Atlanta, GA, Simple Plan once again surprised the local crowd with a new special guest, who joined them on stage during ‘I’m Just A Kid’, which was the former Hey Monday singer and winner of The Voice, Cassadee Pope.

Since Cassadee is a self-proclaimed Simple Plan fan since her childhood, this was a very special moment also for her. On her own Instagram, Cassadee later shared a video of her performance with SP, thanking the band for having her on stage in Atlanta:

‘Can definitely cross “singing with Simple Plan” off my bucket list. “I’m Just A Kid” is my JAM. What an awesome group of dudes. Thanks for bringing me up, guys!!’

Simple Plan take a stand against the opioid crisis & help support the cause with exclusive recordings from the last Warped

Various artists on Vans Warped Tour, that is currently hitting some of its final stops in the USA this summer on its final cross-country tour, have expressed their support of the FEND movement. By spreading awareness via its new app, the FEND campaign’s goal is to inform the public about the dangers of opioids. According to FEND’s website, “over the past four years, the misuse of opioids by 15-19 year olds has dramatically increased, [and] sadly, so have drug overdose deaths. Most of these overdose deaths are accidental, and over half are caused by prescription painkillers (opioids) – opioids are also a known gateway drug to heroin.”

In a video campaign for FEND, artists from Warped touring bands such as Story Untold, Waterparks, Don Broco, Simple Plan and more discussed the importance of awareness of this issue. From Simple Plan, you can find its lead singer Pierre Bouvier appearing in the video:

And that is not where Simple Plan’s involvement with this campaign ends. In order to help raise funds for FEND to help fight the opioid crisis, Vans Warped Tour partnered up with Set.fm and together they decided to put a very special recording from the final day of Warped Tour up for sale, entitled “Vans Warped Tour – The Final Hours” with all proceeds going directly to FEND.

The recording will be featuring the last two songs from the live Warped Tour sets of each participating band on August 5th 2018 at Coral Sky Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, FL and will be available as a compilation for download within 24 hours of the final note played. The bands that will be a part of this compilation include Ice Nine Kills, In Hearts Wake, Unearth, Capstan, Doll Skin, The Maine, We The Kings, Chelsea Grin, Every Time I Die, Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Kublai Khan, Tropidelic, Mayday Parade, Crown The Empire, Palaye Royale, Deez Nuts, My Children My Bride and of course Simple Plan. And since Simple Plan’s setlist has remained practically unchanged over the course of Warped Tour, we can safely say that the featured songs by SP on this special compilation will be ‘I’m Just A Kid’ and ‘Perfect’, given they are the final two songs on the band’s setlist.

So if you’d like to help a good cause and also keep a souvenir in the form of the last Warped notes, for a $20 minimum donation, you can already pre-order this special “Vans Warped Tour – The Final Hours” compilation here.

Chuck and Jeff discuss ‘Saturday’ as the “worst” Simple Plan song in a new interview

Our friends over at SPB finally released their own long-awaited interview with Chuck and Jeff from Simple Plan, that was filmed while the band paid a visit to Brazil with a NPNHJB anniversary tour earlier this year. Bruno from SPB decided to split the interview in 3 parts – one consisted of a game of facts about Brazil, in the second one was a “Who’s most likely to..” game and finally in the third part Bruno let the guys react to a number of tweets written by the members of the website’s team.

During the interview, the guys were asked which song they consider the worst Simple Plan song, to which Jeff immediately replied “Generation”, which can be found on Simple Plan’s self-titled record and was in fact the show-opener in 2008.

However, later on in the interview, the guys were shown a tweet from a fan taking a jab at Simple Plan for releasing the song ‘Saturday’ (‘Did Simple Plan really get together and say: ‘Hey guys, Saturday is such a great song!’ – because I can’t understand this.’ – @mariaclara_b) as an the first promo song for Taking One For The Team and after receiving quite a backlash, they opted not to have it featured on the actual record and pretty much not discuss it ever since. In the interview, both Chuck and Jeff agreed that it was a mistake and that Saturday might be the worst Simple Plan song and promised to perhaps one day reveal how the decision process about releasing this song came about.

Chuck: “That is the worst Simple Plan song.”
Jeff: “You know what? Before Generation – Saturday is the worst song.”
Chuck: “It’s a long story, one day we will explain what happened..”
Jeff: “Or not…”
Chuck: “I don’t think actually… the song doesn’t exist.”
Jeff: “.. It never happened.”
Chuck: “What song? I don’t know what Saturday is…”
Jeff: “It was sort of like a false start. And then you go back and do it again.”
Chuck: “It’s not on Spotify, so it doesn’t really exist.”
Jeff: “… we made sure it disappeared. “

If you need a reminder of Saturday, here you go, but after that make sure to check out the full interview with Chuck and Jeff for SPB below:
