Simple Plan confirm new Xmas song soon & next U.S. tour for spring 2017!

A couple days ago, while in Indiana for the Pretty In Pink event, Pierre, Seb and Jeff gave an interview to 97.3 WMEE. In this interview the guys mentioned various fun things such as their favorite past Halloween costumes, their favorite hockey team, but things got a little more interesting when the interview turned to what Simple Plan have up their sleeves for next year.

Given how successful Simple Plan’s U.S. tour in October was, after selling out almost every venue they played at, the band has decided not to wait much longer to return to the U.S. and revealed that they are in fact already planning to come back and according to this interview that tour should happen in spring 2017. Rumor also has it that the band previously stated in other interviews back in California that the tour should take place even sooner – in February [however this is yet to be confirmed]. And this time around, this tour should cover more U.S. cities and states than the October one.

Check out what Jeff said about the U.S. tour in this interview:

Jeff: “There are rumors.. We just had an amazing U.S. tour, you know. It was mostly sold-out. It did really really well. It was a killer tour. And we haven’t been here for a while, so it was cool to reconnect with our fans. So it kinda gave us a taste of touring here and it’s so fun! Like, you’re right close to home and it’s… We’ve toured a lot in the U.S., we have a lot of friends here, so we’re talking about maybe coming back here in spring. So doing a more extensive tour. You know, we did two, three weeks of touring, a bunch of acoustic shows. But this time around we’d like to go, you know, from coast to coast and just check out places that we haven’t been on this particular tour. So definitely sooner than the usual three years that we take between tour. We’re gonna be here a lot sooner.”

Another confirmation that this interview has given us is that Simple Plan are most definitely releasing a new Christmas song soon! Alright, the band hasn’t directly said it’s a new Christmas song, but given the amount of hints, it’s pretty clear they have a new Xmas song in mind. Also, even though Pierre declined to reveal the title of the song to the interviewer, if nothing’s changed, we already know the title – and we’ve known for a while. Back in fall of last year, Simple Plan mentioned in a webchat that they plan on releasing a Christmas song called “Christmas Every Day” the following year – that means right in time for Christmas 2016! You don’t fool us, Pierre! :)

Pierre: “We have a new song coming out soon! It’s kind of a “gift” or a “present”. ”
Interviewer: “What’s it called?”
Pierre: “Can’t tell you. The only hint I can tell you is: It’s a “present”.”
Interviewer: […] “Is it gonna come out for Christmas?”
Band: *acts like they don’t know but they really do*

Music video for ‘Perfectly Perfect’ to reveal stories of diverse couples

For a while now, Simple Plan fans have been aware that the band is releasing the song ‘Perfectly Perfect’ as their 3rd official single from Taking One For The Team. Uptil now, though, it was unknown when the band would start working on an accompanying music video.

Yesterday finally the band released a call to their Canadian fans on Twitter with a link to a Facebook post, which promised to reveal the details of their new music video for ‘Perfectly Perfect’ and how the fans can be a part of it. Unfortunately, the post is geo-blocked to the local residents, but that doesn’t stop us from getting to know what it contains!

The concept of the music video will be based on black and white images of couples of all ages (over 17 years old), nationalities, sexual orientations and gender identity, who will be asked to share their stories on camera, in order to represent the positive message of the song [read more about the meaning of ‘Perfectly Perfect’ here].

The music video will be recorded on October 22nd in Montreal, Canada and the fans interested in participating in the video have been asked to send a picture of themselves and their partner with a short description of themselves to the following e-mail address: spvideo2016@gmail.com.

This won’t be the first time that Simple Plan fans will be able to take part in a Simple Plan videoshoot. The fans were previously involved in such videos as ‘Opinion Overload’, ‘Singing In The Rain’, ‘Jet Lag’, ‘Boom’ and of course most notably ‘This Song Saved My Life’

Simple Plan performed ‘Untitled’ in Kansas as an acoustic trio

Last night, Pierre, Jeff and Sebastien appeared at the Barktoberfest event in Kansas [stating David and Chuck were sick – although during acoustic sets, it’s common for Chuck not to be there]. Looks like our theory of Simple Plan focusing more on their earlier hits at their shows in the U.S. was correct – the boys brought back ‘Untitled’ to the setlist alongside other well-known songs to the U.S. audience, such as Addicted, I’m Just A Kid, I’d Do Anything, Welcome To My Life or Perfect – all acoustically.

Check out some of the first few pictures from the show here and a video from their ‘Untitled’ performance below:

Simple Plan revealed artwork for new single ‘Perfectly Perfect’

After weeks of the fact that ‘Perfectly Perfect’ was Simple Plan’s third single of Taking One For The Team was just an information confirmed in various interviews, the band has officially stepped in and announced their new single yesterday. And with that they also showed their fans for the first time what the artwork that will be accompanying the single looks like.

Simple Plan decided to use this Chady Awad’s gorgeous picture from the show in Paris, France (March 13th 2016) for the artwork of ‘Perfectly Perfect’, which perfectly fits the feel of the song itself.

Besides that, Pierre, Chuck, Jeff all decided to write about the song’s lyrical meaning in their Instagram posts yesterday. As you can see, there is not just one clear meaning behind the song, but there’s more. Let Pierre, Chuck and Jeff explain to you better what ‘Perfectly Perfect’ is about:

“Perfectly Perfect is about being in love with someone and seeing beauty in every part of them, even the parts they don’t like about themselves. People tend to focus too much on their flaws. When we see a picture of ourselves we tend to comment on the things we hate, when in reality nobody really notices, especially when you love the person. All the little “flaws” become things that make you special and different. Most of us in the band are now married or in long term relationships and this song was definitely inspired by that. For me personally, the song really reminds me of my wife. I know she has plenty of things about herself that she would like to change, but those are all the things that make her who she is and I love her.” – Pierre

“I would add that I hope this songs helps people feel better about who they are. I know physical appearance can be a huge insecurity for a lot of us. We wrote this song because a lot of times, these insecurities and fears are not rooted in reality. They are caused by a warped perception of ourselves and how the world sees us. I know this because I wrestle with the same thing all the time, just like everyone. I don’t care how good looking someone is, deep inside there’s always something that bugs them about how they look, about their body or how they think people look at them and judge them. We create all these doubts in our minds and we carry that weight around with us and it’s not healthy. It really breaks my heart when a fan tells me they don’t want to take a picture with me “because they look like shit right now” or when I see fans’ photos posted with their faces covered or hidden. I hope music can help some of you feel better and deal with all the hardships life can bring. I dedicate this song to all our fans who have to live with these type of insecurities on a daily basis. We write music for you. We love you and we want you to be happy and proud of who you are. You’re perfectly perfect to us.” – Chuck

“There are a lot of things going on in Simple Plan world this week but one of the things I care the most about is the release of our new single, “Perfectly Perfect”. Chuck and Pierre wrote some very nice thoughts about the meaning of the song. I’d like to add that this song has a special meaning to me: being a compulsive perfectionist, I’m just starting to realize that part of beauty lies in its imperfection. I make mistakes while playing music and sometimes they become magical moments. My little ones do really dumb things sometimes that turn into happy accidents. My relationships are complex and imperfect yet they fill my life with so much joy. I often meet fans that are conscious about themselves: my dad always used to say that I won the first race of life (you know, the one in your mother’s belly?) and that this clearly made me unique, special, incredible, spectacular. We all won the first race of our lives. This weekend, someone asked me how it felt to have fans look at me with so much passion: I answered that I felt the love deeply and that I felt the responsibility to give back. I give back through music and through the time I spend talking with you guys (and girls). It might sound cheesy but I mean it: you guys are imperfectly perfect to me ;-) lots of love.” – Jeff
